Maybe some unions are useful, but teachers unions specifically are an absolute cancer in our country and need to die.

But arent they important for Safety?
OSHA and government regulations handle that now. Unions are outdated in that purpose

Pretty much everything unions ever fought for is now law. We've come a long way from Henry Ford having machine guns on top of factories.

I'm a former union member, BTW.

Unions do nothing but hurt the company, the employees, and the customers in today's world.

As vague as I can be here, but the (gay)president of one union has made it very clear that if you do not participate in their causes and parades, you are not a true member and will not be represented as such.

A majority of members are good ole boys, so I’m taking this intel as a grain of salt.

Edit: my point being this feels very contradictory to the purpose of the group and more like it’s pushing the political aspirations of the current leader.

Why need unions when we know we can trust corporate leadership to always do what’s in the best interest of employees even at the lowest levels.

I guess I don't understand why the big 3 auto makers, UPS, etc, don't just tell the unions "we don't need you anymore", and the employees can stay employed or be replaced.

You can't trust union leaders to do what's best for the workers, either

Used to agree with you until I the rise of Amazon and how it treats it workers. Amazon has the government bought off so union is only way to go there.

Unions are stupid unless it’s for nurses. Nursing is one of the very few professions that deserves unions, in my opinion. They are treated like machines by hospital administrators and barely crack $80,000/year in most states

There is absolutely zero purpose for any public sector union, teachers unions chief among them.

I respectfully disagree. I am in healthcare now and we pay nurses incredible wages. During CBA negotiations we sometime offer more than what the Union is asking for just so we can hire people. Nurses salaries have skyrocketed.

We have other Unions that think Nurses should be making 200k a year

And look at the standard of living for the countries that are manufacturing the products. You think maybe it's the corporations trying to squeeze every penny out of their employees instead?

is that inherit to unions or the American business model?

Why is it that all these threads complain about the unions being corrupt while businesses fund politicians on both sides?

Biden may say he’s pro union but himself and his voters don’t care one thing about American blue collar workers

Yeah it’s true that RNs make slightly above average salaries for bachelor degree professions. But the amount of schooling and requirements one has to go through to become an RN is ridiculous. BSN is just a title. The pay difference between someone who’s a BSN-RN and someone who’s only an RN is non-existent.

If someone really wanted to go into nursing for the money, I’d just tell them to stay in school longer and go the Nurse Practitioner route

This probably the more important issues to address but until citizen speak up money will continue to buy vote.

Sunshine laws for elections are much needed

Reverse "Citizens United" and get corporations out of the voting booth

Lobbyist (and their bought politicians) should have to wear ads like NASCAR showing where their money come from

Limit campaigns to 6 months so politicians are not spending their time in office raising money instead of working for the actual voters

Bring back the FCC law that promoted equal time

Deny US citizenship to foreign nations only going through the process to own US media

Might be the whole idea but Unions have overstepped their bounds. They no longer make sure the average employee is treated fairly. They make sure the worst employee can't get fired for literally sleeping on the job. They make sure the good employee doesn't get a raise because that would be unfair to the worst employee.

That's a gross generalization.
