Or I should say it’s completely irrelevant if it’s a lot of money for the poster who posted tat. It’s relevant that it is way more money than the example he gave would have been bringing in before. And regardless of the false bravado/OT baller bullshite, 11k is way more than the average American family brings in a month.

So what? That money is being used to keep businesses open, keep paying employees, and helping with stock prices. In case you didn't know it, stocks are a big part of many people's lives.
Again, I don't have a problem with the average joe getting the extra money. I hate that it was a one sized fits all approached where minimum wage and other unemployed people are getting way to much. Should have cut it off on May 31st and had an option to extend if needed.

So what? That money is being used to keep the lights on at someone's house, to put food on someone's table, to pay rent/mortgage, etc.
We can play the so what game all day. My comment was more about the respective reactions on this board to these programs. Hardly a batted eye to the money going to Wall St, companies exploiting the PPP program, or the lack of oversight of the PPP program which has allowed that exploitation. In the end, those programs are going to cost the taxpayers a LOT more money than some extra unemployment benefits, but this board will continue to punch down.

Those "profiting" off of unemployment don't usually have mortgages. They're itinerant, part time workers who got a raise from the government. The Average baw isn't making more on UI though. But, it's often close enough to not work and collect.

Absolutely. I work for DoL, we are going after them with full force. All you do is denied benefits for a period of time, the system is automated.
Now, we are less like to get to the case in a timely manner, but you'll still be indefinitely denied until we can get to it.

I don't doubt this is happening in some places that have the personnel and systems to support it, especially in states with smaller populations like you guys, but I just can't see it being that efficient in a place like CA or NY and the focus (rightly) would be on processing new claims.

unemployment is based on 60% of your estimated net income (pretax) over the prior year up to date of filing so in the end you end up getting around 80% of your after tax tax home pay you were earning
the added $600 a week is the gubment trying to replace the lost income from before when all this shite started
what they should have done was left unemployment alone and just said the corona checks were not a one time thing but going to continue every month until this is over. that way the money being handed out stays the same but there is no incentive to not work
