Belize is the only Central American country where English is regularly spoken. Was formerly referred to as British Honduras. It's an absolutely great place to visit. Cool mix of British, black Caribbean, Hispanic and Mayan culture.

I believe it's still under British rule.

So is it a police state like the mother country?

Yup, it’s poor and there’s lots of crime. I believe locals have to show a worker pass to get into the tourist area. If they’re getting older the quality of healthcare may be a problem.

Huh? What’s wrong with expat life? It’s not like you are renouncing your country? I’ve lived in Japan and basically lived in Costa Rica I went back and forth so much for 2 years.

Do yourself a favor- go to YouTube and google “ real estate Thailand” and imagine buying a nice home for 100k and think about being able to live very comfortably off $1500 a month. In a country where a bottle of water costs 10 cents and where a quick lunch costs $2 and where everyone smiles and there are beaches and jungles everywhere. Look at how cheap life is in Eastern Europe if Asia isn’t your speed. Check out Albania. Or Uraguay if you want parts unknown south. Why not go somewhere where you can increase your standard of living and have a lot of adventure. I’m planning my exit every day. Doesn’t mean I don’t love America it just means I’m tired of having 6 months of bills in one .

Belize is a great place to move if you want to get away. It’s a short flight from the us, the exchange rate is simple, 2-1, and it’s really cheap to live there. I’ve thought about retiring down there.

and very few are raising children there, though there are some in San Pedro and placencia. If you could live anywhere on the planet coastal Belize is up there with the best

Moving to a country like that is risky. When shite hits fan the first people to get killed will be the dumb rich american expats Better to have land out west in a remote area
These people are dumb. They believe they’re going to be living out their fantasy of a handsmaid tale by leaving the US and joining the Underground Railroad to smuggle queers across the continent so they don’t get sent to straight camps

Oh and the period apps. Have to delete those so JD Vance and Elon don’t track you and find out you missed a period because they’ll force you to birth a child

Idk, I've been and the islands seem very "middle class retired white guys moving to be beach bums." Everywhere is a tourist trap and feels fake. The mainland is awful and poor. It's nice to visit for diving and fly fishing but not to live.
