Was watching shark week (insert step brothers meme here) and one of the researchers cursed, predictably evoking the *bleeeep* sound. Got me thinking, why can't I sign up for an uncensored broadcast where nothing is bleeped? I'll sign a waiver, pay a couple more bucks, whatever.

I think they can air whatever they want they just get fined. South Park has pushed that boundary to the extreme and it’s still on.

Cable stations have more leeway in what they can air, but many of them seem to censor language anyway. It really annoys me when they bleep it out as well.

Harvey Specter has been dropping F bombs since last season. When Straight Outta Compton is on FX or FXX only the nudity is gone.

I understand the need to protect children and those who wish to not be exposed to a more "adult" product but for the life of me I can't understand why nudity is seemed more offensive than graphic gore. Especially when it's simple nudity, not sexual intercourse.

What are they being protected from, exactly? It's just words that their parents probably don't want them to say. They're probably harming their kid more than they're protecting them. The world doesn't give any fricks.

The reason why is that cable TV isn't "aired" to begin with. The FCC can only regulate broadcast transmissions (i.e. TV and radio) but has no authority over cable or streaming.

Thank God because if they could regulate streaming we wouldn't have internet porn.

In which case we would not have the internet as we know it. The history of how the free internet (excluding service provider fees but yet keeping connectivity extremely inexpensive) is based on porn in fact.

Porn is what built and paid for our internet. Millions, if not billions of $5/month porn subscriptions paid for the infrastructure. Back then $5 was the cost of a single edition Playboy delivered by snailmail or bought in a brown paperbag from behind the counter at only some retailers. So for the same price of a single magazine one could look at a seemingly infinite amount of various jpegs and gifs and a year or 2 later, whole movies. And that $5 was 24/7 till the next $5 month started. And it was delivered almost instantly right to the screen with just a couple of clicks. No getting out in the weather, no driving or getting your magazine soaked by the rain.

No shite, Porn built the internet! The Dirty Little Secret of Silicon Valley.

I heard the word “frick” several times last night watching “Yellowstone” and saw the hot red heads lovely tits and arse

Pretty sure that’s on regular tv (ie not a movie or on a movie channel)

Cable companies can air whatever they want because it's paid for, not publicly accessible.

They just choose not to. More parents would not watch the channel at all vs. people watching the channel because of cursing and nudity.

Yeah network stations are the only ones with rules on what they have to censor. Cable has no rules but they all censor it anyways because of sponsors and ad time. Comedy central used to have that uncensored show on at like 1 am Saturday mornings bc nobody was watching. Hunting ISIS show on A&E is uncensored at like 9 pm during the week.
