Unions exist in Uber?
No, but they exist in the cab industry and alot of Uber drivers are former cab drivers. It does not take a rocket scientists to figure out that former union cab drivers that now drive for Uber want Uber to unionize so they can get their plush benefits.

Oh well, this is just temporary. I'm guessing soon you'll be able to summons a google-type car that drives itself and brings you to your destination

I was talking with a driver going into DC. He lives in the suburbs and picks up a fare in the morning on his way to work in the city, then picks up a second one on the way home at night. He said he just did it to write off his mileage to and from work.

That ultimately depends on the following:
Rates
Demand
Frequency of surge
None of these are the same in every city. Some people can make from as much as $1500 in a week to as little as under $100 in a week.

Don't even get me started on that horseshat. Damn hipsters wasting all their $$$ on weed and degrees that they can't get a good paying job in. Now those of us that are in professional schools (i.e. med school, law school, PT school, etc) that will make more than enough $$$ to pay off our loans have to pay higher interest. That last damn student loan deal made my interest jump by 1.5% alone and us future physicians are going to make enough where we can't even write off the damn interest. It is F**king bullshat!

I Uber an LLC? Who is responsible for accidents? How does Uber screen drivers? I still get uncomfortable when some of my female friends take Uber because I'm afraid some sicko is going to hurt them.

Let's assume Uber drivers were considered employees and given these benefits.
Wouldn't the cost of the service likely rise with the added expense? Wouldn't that likely decrease the demand for the service? Wouldn't that mean that the "employees" would likely have fewer opportunity to make money? Wouldn't that make them becoming "employees" counter-productive?
