Well according to his own employees, Twitter is commie as all hell, so of course you can’t trust them. Fire everyone, including the janitor.

That all sounds good and I know that's what people would like to see, but I don't think this would be doing anyone, including Elon, any favors.

He seems like he has taken on sort of a bull in a China cabinet approach and he is maybe trying to sort of reinvent twitter.

There is an organic part of building a social media company. The most valuable asset are users. They are all like a 24/7 live TV station that depends on a lot of people to continuously feed it content.

In a perfect world, everyone who signs up would not be able to sign up more than one account. There would not be fake accounts tweeting out information with no one held accountable for tweeting out.. I guess "toxic" tweets.

If someone wants to put something out there, they wouldn't be able to hide behind fake accounts. But to be an as profitable as possible company Elon will likely not be able to make all the changes he will want to make.

Part of what makes twitter, twitter is the shite show. shite happens and everyone goes to twitter to see what people are saying about it. Its 24/7 reality TV. Its a good source to keep track of what is happening and a good source for entertainment.

Is there anything Elon can do to attract more people to use twitter? Nothing is perfect so no matter what he wants it to become, it will always have its own set of problems.

Bottom line, he can't just fire everyone then just start changing the platform to see how things go. Something might be a great idea in theory, but its not a good idea to just roll it out, if you change something too much from what people are used to, they will stop using it.

Lets put this into perspective — at the beginning of this month, Twitter had 7,400 employees. Barely half way through the month, if 75% do actually stick to their decision today, the company will have shrunk by a whopping ~88%.

And yet the app still works just fine

I have no idea if what Elon is doing will work or not. He has a track record of being a visionary on some things, but also letting his ego get in the way on some other things.

It's fun watching everyone act like the world is ending on twitter right now.

Melodrama all over the place.

As we’re all very aware, folks on visas are stuck, so thats who makes up most of the roughly 25% (or less than 1,000….) expected to stay. The actual impact is not yet known — there have been no internal comms about what comes next. We’re nearly 2 hours post deadline.

Most of you don't understand this, but that means the worst employees are the only ones who didn't just quit and that's only because they have no choice, else they get deported.

I was recruiting an ex twitter employee this week, they worked there for just 4 months and made 200k. Why? Because dumbass Elon bought twitter for way more than it was worth and everyone who had vested stock (everyone who worked there for longer than a quarter had vested stock) got 6 figure paydays as soon as that happened.

That's right, all these employees y'all think Elon is fricking over all have six figures just hanging in their bank accounts and they're all being recruited like crazy.

The only reason this isn't top business news is because FTX is somehow even worse.

But it's a win win. Twitter is garbage, Elon is garbage, two garbage things being tossed into the trash is a net win for everyone.

So almost everyone has been fired or quit. Musk is currently begging people to come back and the app is on the verge of shutting down with 44 billion down the drain.

But wait - I thought the OT Boomers told me Musk was a genius and his strategy of mocking his workers while constantly threatening them and treating them like shite was a brilliant business maneuver.

it might just work. there's a group of guys willing to work for the world's richest man for free

"Elon, there's a bunch of us in SV who will come up tonight to help on the infra side to keep the site up.

If you need help just ask."

with most of the experienced devs that were 5 years in Twitter gone, its going to take a while to get to know twitter's codebase.

They're all pathetic boot lickers that would probably be about as useful as you with their help.

Firing/Losing 6,000 people isn't gonna manage well for one of the largest social media platforms.

Trust me. There are people who will be lining up to fill all of those positions. Maybe they wouldn’t have the insights to everything in twitter’s infrastructure, but I guarantee Elon will have no issues staffing it back up

Because its a platform with 390+ Million users and has over 200 million daily users? You think if Tigerdroppings had that many users that it would be able to be run by a few hundred people?
