Not zero sum, but it's highly stacked against young men now, more than it used to be. That's my interest here... I've been married for decades, but I have two sons, and I worry about the world they'll inherit, and this is just one of the things I see that I don't like. But the overall effect is "Look at how valuable I am, I deserve a top tier man", when in the real world, without Tinder, her expectations would be forced to align with reality.

Looking at the bigger picture... national fertility rates... Its also contributing to young women waiting until the last minute to get married in that attempt to "have it all", and many are doing so when they're at the bottom of their egg barrel. I think it's a big reason for the country not even reaching replacement rate in births. Demographics are destiny.

I was single-ish in the glory days of the early web, around 1999-2002 or so. Getting on yahoo dating and the like was a fricking treasure trove. It was like shooting fish in a barrel.

I think a huge portion of people are just revolting now. Dudes are girls and girls that are willing to take the leap are going for girls.

Maybe this is some new, low-testosterone thing. When I was single and in my twenties I had damn near no standards- especially after a lonely week or two.

Grannies, crackheads, teenagers, Special Olympians... no one even vaguely female was safe.

It’s the younger guys. Many of them are obsessed with video games and use porn when they need sex.

I find that many of the 20 something women we hire in our office have more masculinity than the men.

As a country we don't have to worry about that with African Americans and Hispanics. This is also why eventually whites in the US will be a minority. Everyone is going to be some kind of mixed.
