I dabble in marine construction and I chuckle at the thought of seeing a couple dozen barges go floating by without a tug or other push boat.

So, in a little more than 5 hours we'll see 26 barges via drone adrift?

Big deal

About a generation ago 26 marauding chihuahua formed a gang and terrorized Eastern Kentucky.

They also have snake handling churches in them hills!

26 barges on the Ohio Ocean seems kinda tame.

You'd be surprised how often barges break loose. It's not an uncommon occurrence

I know we’re a really big country, and accidents happen all the time, but lately this stuff has made my tin foil hat tingle.

I think it just gets more media coverage now. Barges used to break away on the Mississippi a lot especially during high water. A lot of times some tug boats would be in the area and corral them before they did any damage and the public were none the wiser.

This is more common than you think. I won't say it happens every day, but you hear about this some when the bigger rivers get up. The real threat is barges to parts of the Old River structures. It has happened before, but the real butthole pucker would be if it happens in high water conditions.

Things like this make me fear we will become like Soviet Russia in the 80s. Infrastructure all rusty and breaking down, shelves at the stores empty, crap like that.

So glad we have a dude whose qualifications are “I’m gay and drive a Prius” as the transportation secretary to take care of all these transportation related issues that have been popping up

Never would’ve happened if Trump were President. There would have been a level of pride in workmanship and productivity, from your longshoremen to the roustabouts to the pilots. You remember any barges scattering like this during his tenure? I remember like it were yesterday…..all barges were fastened tautly.

Not too surprising. Been receiving a lot of rain up here, creeks and rivers are swollen with fast moving water. Also, been having bouts of strong gusty winds.

Exactly why the term "conspiracy theorists" was created.

Basically anything completely outlandish can now happen in front of 300+ million people and no one can show concern for fear of being called a crazy lunatic.
