If belongs on tech board, I will happily do TD community service.

Have an old flat screen that needs to be put to rest. What are my recycling options?

I have done Best Buy $30 in the past. Any other options?

If you're in Baton Rouge, you can drop it off at Capital Area Corporate Recycling, 1400 Main St.

I do this, but they've always turned on and had a remote with them. They were just ancient in terms of televisions.

Or drop it off afterhours or the random donation bins in strip mall parking lots

Maybe a mom & pop small appliance repair shop? They may have interest in stripping it for its parts if it's a common brand name.

Google electronic recycling in your area. I paid $15 here in Arkansas and got the satisfaction of not feeling like a total piece of shite.

Ride through an apartment complex and throw away in a dumpster.

Option 2:
1. put the broken TV in the original box
2. carefully seal box with clear shipping tape
3. drive the boxed TV to the hood.
4. place the TV near a door as though it was an amazon delivery
5. get back in the car and wait for the show.

Put it out on the curb with a note "works, free to a good home".....

Should disappear in an hour.

I know some married couples that should employ this same process.

Do they pay you $30? Or do you pay them?

I brought mine to the parish dump. Some old boomer pulled it directly from my truck bed into his corolla. I didn't even have to unload it. Ole baw was acting like he won the lottory.

If it works put it to the curb on a day it's not raining. If it doesn't, put it to the curb on bulk item pickup day.

Baby Tac said to buy a new TV, put the old one in that box and then return the old TV in the new box. Two birds, one stone.

I've heard there's a simple way to remove tv components and make a light out of them .
I don't know if thats legit or not
