Note, we keep an old tv so we can easily watch old vhs tapes. Been busy getting them transferred to discs but not finished.

I haven’t touched VHS in decades so I need you to explain how this has anything to do with the age of the tv.

Newer TVs don't have the same connections on the back of the TV as older ones do, directly correlating to the cables used by the VCR.

But adapter cables exist right? New TVs still have a damn coaxial connection. We’re not exactly talking about trying to fit an 8 track in a Walkman.

You explained it for yourself. I, however, watch old vhs tapes of my kids and the Smart tvs are difficult to hook up with old vhs tape players. Old tvs are not difficult.
