I was riding around University Club this weekend and I noticed that someone had turfed their front yard. I had to circle back around to take another look at it because something looked odd to me. I then realized that the turf was different colors in different parts of the yard. Some of it was lush green looking while some other areas looked a little faded (a gray tint to it). It was a really nice house and the yard looked neat and clean, but the different colored turf confused me.

Artificial? What grade of turf? typical medium grade installed about $9/sf depending on the base.

Just keep it natural.
Don't want to mow your little patch of backyard?
Then landscape with plants and some ground cover.

What’s the top quality stuff? Who’s a good company in BR/Nola area that installs turf. Our dog has torn up our tiny back yard and not looking to re sod.

This for the basic “quality” stuff. Your not just throwing it over dirt. Requires same base as if doing a paver patio plus infil is recommended to add weight and keep the blades upright. Find someone who knows what they are doing. Grain must run same direction or will look discolored and seams will be visible. If someone charges less than this they aren’t doing it right. Higher quality turfs will be even higher.

Wouldn't your dog (who is colorblind) just think it's a rug for him to play with, dig under and poop on?

10-15 years depending on location and climate. If I need to replace it, it wont be near as expensive because the base is already in place.
