You shall be even more fascinated by the maneuvering characteristics of the new jet-drive ferries, should they ever enter service

Friend,
I’ll be in the chocolate city at the end of the month. I’d enjoy riding the ferry with you...as long as you promise not to kill me. I’ll even pay your $2 fare. We can live blog our adventure here. Please consider.

Sincerely,

The only fly in the ointment in this marvelous photo essay is a glimpse of a hipster bike.

As someone who doesn’t get to go to New Orleans as often as I like, much less learn cool history and stuff about it, I always look forward to these threads.

True story. One day I was riding the ferry back to the eastbank. A small boat was going the other way. On the front of this boat was none other than Western basketball coach Pete Bell. He was on his way to recruit a totally raw, unknown prospect named Neon Boudeaux.

Neon now owns Krispy Kreme’s and all other sorts of shite.

Bring back the Gretna > Jackson Ave. ferry...both areas have grown for the better since it stopped in 2011

(Breaking: It’s not coming back)

Friend,

I have considered. It would be an honor, but I give up the ferry for Lent. Lent is but five days away I am sad to report.

Yours,

I used to see that you would post a thread and get absolutely sick to my stomach, now, it makes my day.

Thank you, TulaneLSU. People really do change

You are a very interesting man TulaneLSU. I too enjoy ferry rides but rather the bolivar peninsula ferry that connect bolivar peninsula and Galveston. I hope one day you will be able to travel to see the beautiful Ferries brought to you by the Texas department of transportation.

There’s also a crewboat running as a makeshift ferry.
