I've showered at many truck stops in my sedan. They do usually ask if I'm a trucker but I think that's because you can get a discount if you are.

Fun useful fact:
Loves Hot Dogs are Schwabs Brand Hot Dogs. They are VERY good and nothing like the junk that RaceTrac or Circle K serves. And they are also 2 for under $5.
Give em a try. Trust ole mikel when it comes to Truck Stops and wieners.

Hemingway was more a master of brevity.
I'm glad to see you chose the Cascades route, though, Tulane.

Masterful. Odd duck say some. A man for all seasons (except perhaps football) say I.
Accomplished man of the trails. Eschewer of ignoble creature comforts. Equally comfortable Spillway crawfishing or chasing Reds in the marsh shallows between Chef Menteur Pass and Bayou de L saire (perhaps less facile stalking the elusive smallmouth below the Picwick dam in Mississippi south of Shiloh’s sacred soil?)
And allowing St. Paul adequate space to weave his gospel message seamlessly into TulaneLSU’s own endless efforts to share the love of Christ Jesus to any and all who have ears to hear and will listen. Odd duck or evangelist for our sad times?
Rave on John Donne, rave on. We’re listening.
I have one small critique:
A fascinating review that is also a most enjoyable drive by sermon. Well done my good man. Well done.

I have one small critique:
quote:It’s possible consistent references like this might reflect military background of the sort expressed in 4 September 2023 and not militant illiteracy.
God led me to Love, the greatest of the gifts, according to Paul, if you read One Corinthians, as some biblical illiterates might call it.

I try and leave a tip if I have the cash, they deserve it imo. The only negative is in one of your pictures, the soap dispenser. You gotta hit that thing 50 times to get enough to wash everything, which is why I bring my own soap.

Beautifully written, and congratulations on the hike and the shower.
I'm coming around to your opinion of sobriety, 65 days now. And feeling the connection with the Lord as well. A prodigal son returning home.
I hope one day to get back to the mountains and feel the presence you speak of.
I am in dire need of inspiration and fulfillment. Homesick, I suppose. Lonely in a crowded room.
Here is the beach, and the endless ocean stretching on like possibilities

How many bodies are buried just off this path?

Now this is the slow spiral into madness we’ve all been anticipating.

Regarding your photo of Concrete, Washington, please allow me to suggest a film: “This Boy’s Life” starring Robert DiNero and Leonardo DiCaprio(in a very early role). The film is set in Concrete, WA.
Yeah, only time I've ever heard of "Cawn-creeet!"

“Give me one hot shower,” I said to the cashier, smiling from ear to ear. It was 4:30 and both of us were already full of cheer.
“Are you a truck driver?” he asked.
“No, I am driving a sedan. It is that black one out there you can see on your video.”

Seeing that ground hog made this song pop into my head.
quote:
White-tail buck deer, munching on clover
Red-tail hawk, sitting on a limb
Chubby old groundhog, croaking bullfrog
Free as the feeling in the wind
Home-grown country girl, gonna give me a whirl
On a Tennessee Saturday night
Lucky as a seven, livin' in heaven
With my Dixieland Delight
