Well considering 72% of Americans are caucasian it seems about right

Why would I want to graduate from Tulane with $150k+ in debt

I doubt very many are finishing with that kind of debt. Either rich folks are smart and qualify for aid.

The study says that, on average, Tulane graduates with bachelor's degrees earn about $26,000 more a year than non-graduates

So a person with just a HS diploma only makes 26k less than a Tulane Grad? Doesnt it cost 30k a year tulane?

Am I reading this wrong?

My wife's parents both graduated from Tulane. Her mom was on the faculty for years and she grew up going to events on campus. It's a completely different kind of school now. Whether for the better or not is a decision left to the reader.

Are they struggling with it, really?

This sentence confirms that you flunked out of Tulane.

it's a BS stat. Right now thousands of Moms are facebook posting the annual "my kid got accepted to Tulane" posts knowing full well there is no intent to actually enroll.

Interesting...compare that to Vanderbilt (a similarly private Southeastern School)

First-year applicants - 37,310
Admits - 3,402
Admit rate - 9.1%
Enrolled first-year students - 1,604

South - 32%
Midwest - 16%
Middle States - 17%
West - 10%
Southwest - 8%
New England - 5%
International - 10%

My guess is that the struggle is how high a percentage of that 69% Caucasian student body is Jewish.

Jews make up a single digit percentage of people in the US but likely make up a huge percentage of the Tulane student body, especially considering how many of their students come from the northeast.

13% rate times 42,000 apps - 5,460.

Tulane isn't enrolling more than 2,000 freshmen per year. So over half of their admits are saying, nah I'll pass.

But Tulane appeals to a upper class to upper middle class kid from the NE or East coast, who doesn't want to go to school in sub-freezing temps, and wants to go to a cool city... a city where their money stretches further.

And for the person who asked about engineering - they got rid of their civil enginnering program. I have several Tulane civil engineer grads in my extended family, and they are still pissed.

Tulane is a lower choice for "these people" when compared to Stanford and Harvard?

Duke is far superior to Brown IMO

I did not flunk out of Tulane. I had an A average and by the time my first year at Tulane was complete I had taken a grad level history course, 8 hours of physics, 8 hours of orgo, 8 hours of gen chem, genetics, biochem x2 including the dreaded one taught by Ensley.

I left for personal reasons.

I applied in 2008 because the application was free. Assuming it’s still free that’s why they get so many. I got offered a half scholarship but it was still expensive as shite.

Thats the point in the statement you moron. Tulane's goal is to get on the level of thise schools. Attracting the top candidates from varying races is part of that. Diversity doesnt have to mean letting anyone of a different race in. They want those other races that meet their standards.
