I’m looking for a specific watch so I’m not necessarily in a hurry and not going retail. I’ve heard of chrono24 and a couple others like it to start looking.
Any suggestions based on good or bad experiences will be helpful plus any hints or tips would be great too. TIA

I'm assuming you are looking for "gray market" sites, correct?

chrono24 is fine. I've used Jomashop in the past with no issues. I purchased an Omega from there about a year ago. The price was comparable to just about every other gray market site and delivery was pretty fast. No complaints to this point.

How tf does the gray market even work??? How does a non-authorized distributor end up with a brand new genuine product?

At lot of times is from an AD selling the watches to a grey market dealer...often times to liquidate unsold inventory. It is likely the AD is prohibited from doing so per their agreement with the manufacture...but it can be difficult for the manufacture to prove the AD sold to a grey market dealer.

If you buy from a reputable grey market dealer you are getting an authentic watch (at a good discount off retail). The only downside is the manufacturer won't honor the warranty on the watch if something goes wrong.

Don’t even know what “Grey Market” is I’ll be honest.
Just not interested in EBay. Don’t trust that site for anything especially something like this.

* I’m also looking for a Omega Seamaster Aqua Terra 41mm Black or Blue Steel strap and Co Axiel.
Prefer the 05-10 models.
Don’t like all the extra numbers around the outer part inside the dial on newer models or the Yacht background . Better cost wise too.

some brands make their dealers buy a bunch of watches that don't move very quickly in order to get access to the more desirable watches. Think of a rolex dealer buying a bunch of gold datejusts in order to be able to buy a daytona. Then those datejusts sit for a while and they unload them to some grey market dealers.

Ebay is actually legit. They will verify a watch's authenticity before sending to you.

Authorized dealers have to move X amount of product to continue to be a brand dealer. They also have to move less popular product to receive the hot product from the brands. In order to make sales goals and move deadstock, they deal with the gray market. Often the gray dealer will buy a lot of dead stock to get a single hot watch. On rare occasions, brands sell directly to gray dealers.

There are a LOT of watches sold out of the back of the ADs. Some brands care and try to track it and ADs can lose their dealership, some could care less.

Ok I might check then. Bad experience years back so I don’t use it.

Any suggestions on ways to not get screwed in the process ?

Grey market dealers sell authentic watches at a discount from retail....you just don't get the manufactuer warranty that you would get if you bought at an AD.

You're probably not going to be able to find that one new. Go to chrono24. You should be able to get one between $3500 and $4000 (depending on condition)

I definitely don’t want something that I can’t get work done by Omega on.
I had a Jeweler I know tell me if you somehow get a hold of a product that was registered as stolen that Omega won’t return the product so obviously that’s a bad situation.
