If things aren't well on their way to being opened up by mid spring, Trump will only have to prepare for ten months and his successor will handle the back eight.

I won’t click bc I don’t want to give them “hits”, but for those who did how much of the article contains “undisclosed” sources making negative comments about the president’s plan? Just curious.

it's an article about the report that the US (and most other countries) are literally using as their guide

this study is why the UK completely changed gears a day or 2 ago

If that study is their guide then Trump needs to fire his advisors.

Anything greater than a month of this will wreck our economy into a Great Depression. For a virus that some studies are hinting is closer to a CFR of 0.05% if you account for the large number of undetected cases.

i was trying to tell people this about "flattening the curve". you have to maintain that or else it just spreads like wildfire and ERs are at risk again. i imagine 18 months is too long (it's based on the time for a vaccine to be available) but this strategy will take a long time to work (until enough people have been infected to create enough herd immunity to protect the at risk)

What do you think happens here then? I can't even imagine what things would look like in this country with 18 months of the current "social distancing" setup. Probably talking the collapse of society as we know it.

I am pretty much out of work for 2 months. I’ll take the virus over unemployment any day of the week

Asking for people to maintain the status quo for more than a few weeks is pushing it. Not a chance people would put up with this for more than a month or two.

except each peak after the main peak is lower

the peaks decline during this 18 month timeline

we won't be on all these restrictions for 18 months

people need to calm the frick down

From calling it a hoax to an 18 month ordeal, the President has come a long way.

People are going to want some hard numbers in no later than 4 weeks.

We all know the raw positive numbers are going to skyrocket but if the percentage of serious cases and deaths drop, people are going to start asking what the hell.

If it honestly has a 2-3% fatality rate then we may be sucking this up for a while. If that number is truly closer to .25% and hospitals aren't overflowing (and people are still out and about because they are bored out of their minds so you can't "credit" self-quarantining) then people are going to want a quick end to the bullshite.
