This country won't be doing this for 18 months. We will flatten the curve and then reopen everything this summer.

flattening the curve is the plan that requires possibly 18 months of this

if you ease up, the curve will stop being flat and spike back up

18 months seems realistic to have a complete handle on the virus which would mean a vaccine. It’s possible and likely that things are moving back to normal well well before that.
