What is the best way to get a fairly accurate ideal of my trucks trade value? I know KBB is mentioned a lot but dealers always come in much lower than what KBB says the trade value is. Any other tips for trading? I know it's better to sell to a private party but that's not going to happen in my situation.

NADA is used a fair amount. Check them.

Do you have any friends at all in the car biz? You can ask them the get a MMR, Manheim Market Report. That’s the auction value.

KBB gives you trade in value and selling outright. Is it possible you just over value your vehicle?

No I have received two quotes on trade and both are below KBB and NADA for all options listed and condition of vehicle. Of course dealer is trying to low ball.

Most people believe the condition of their vehicle is much better than it actually is. If you have high miles, don’t expect to get average trade in even with it being adjusted for miles because it’s more difficult for the dealership to sell it.

Carfax history plays a big part as well. The newer the vehicle, the cleaner the Carfax needs to be.

Even with a vehicle in good condition, expect between rough and clean trade in on Nada.

Don't trade that shite in.

Last last two vehicles fetched double what they wanted to offer me on trade.

Trade was $3500 for one sold private party for 6900.

The other was 3200. Sold for 7000 private party.

KBB is consumer driven, Black Book is what dealers normally use. We used Black Book at SSA to research a vehicle’s value to determine eligibility for means-based benefits (SSI).

Look for similar vehicle on cargurus.com.

Just a staring point because selling individual to individual is very different than taxing it in to a dealership.

Sell it yourself. Trade-ins are a huge profit center for dealerships. You will get hosed.

No one uses KBB except people trying overvalue their cars.

Black Book. AutoNation will give you more than Carmax. They only offer you auction pricing.

Take the lowest value out of all of them in poor condition, and subtract 10-15% of that
