Pretty sure that is a bullet hole due to the folded metal (a rock would not be able to go through that without having shard marks near it).
Now next question, did this happen on the night of the 4th? If so, probably someone was using their gun as part of the fireworks.

Said rock would have to be traveling with quite some velocity. On the side of the truck, was there an explosion or something?
The hole in the guy's door from a mower could check out if it was an aluminum door. Steel door idk.

Also, on my 04 Ford that is cab and not frame rail in that area. The frame is double walked to make a trough for wiring.

Bullet
I’ve had them go through my door jamb and they looked very similar. And I saw where they came from so there wasn’t any question.

100% bullet. A rock would make it through nor expand like that. Check your lines and whatnot underneath. May be more damage.

I noticed it this morning.
But after talking about it, i think it probably happened on Thursday. When the i talked to the cops about where I had been that day, they seem fairly convinced it happened out at one of the places I was at. So I must have just not paid attention on friday or Saturday, which to be fair I didnt drive my truck those two days.

I have a pretty good idea what you'd be using it for.

One of those fake bullet hole stickers.

Rock shot from a lawn mower most likely with how low it is to the ground and the hole isn’t as clean as a bullet
