Wasn't facing the street.
Weird thing was that my wife's vehicle parks to my left and no obvious damage to hers. I checked the ring cameras, but ill go back further just to make sure I didnt miss something before last night and didnt see anything.
So again assuming it was a falling bullet but definitely a weird angle for it. Just assuming I got unlucky

Is it still in the frame rail?

I assume it happened from a falling bullet from last night festivities.
Not at that angle boss. Someone took aim at you or your car or both.

Here is a bullet hole in a vehicle. Maybe the many folds in the rocker panel made it deform but compared to mine it doesn’t look the same
I had once a bullet hole in the roof of my truck…probably from a falling bullet. It was a clean round hole as your picture shows and not the ragged hole in the OP’s post. Maybe the trajectory of the bullet has something to do with the shape of the hole….straight down vs. from an angle.

Was the dent in the rear panel door there previously?

When keeping it real goes wrong.

A rock could do it.
Several years ago, I was driving down Carrollton Avenue in NOLA around Notre Dame Seminary when the neutral ground was being mowed. One of the mowers kicked up a rock that hit my drivers-side door just below the window. It left a perfectly round hole that looked just like a bullet hole. (Two feet higher, and I wouldn’t be sharing this story!)
I never fixed it, and later traded in the car. When people would ask about the hole, I would always grin and say, “Irate husband…”
It just made a better story.

I echo that it is a bullet hole. The strange thing is the hole is low on the car's body. The angle appears to be upward from the side/rear.

Just be glad whoever it was can’t shoot

I don’t think a falling bullet would have the velocity to do that. Take a pencil, drinking straw, etc. and stick it through both of the holes with the door closed….that way you can tell what direction the bullet came from.

That was going to be my next question, do I fix it or not. I assume I should at least get the door fixed. Im not even sure what you do about the inner frame
Posted on 7/5/26 at 11:57 am to Spankum
Definitely came from outside.
It doesnt penetrate the inner part of the the still frame.
Its a hollow area, so whatever caused it should be in there. If I had a plumbers scope I could take a look around and see

Not 100% positive but im pretty sure it was

No rock is gonna bend the material in like that. I don't care how fast it got swatted out by a lawnmower or another vehicle's tires.

I actually don’t think it’s a bullet or a projectile.
I think somebody backed into you with some sort of narrow focused protrusion. It’s not clean enough to be a bullet IMO. And if there’s no additional damage behind it I don’t think it was a projectile.
Also I have no clue what I’m talking about

It went through outer layer of door, inner layer of door, outer layer of frame and then hit the back wall of the frame.

How could a bullet falling from the sky penetrate from the side like that?
I really don’t think any rock penetrates that far. If it’s not a bullet then I don’t know what it was.

If you lived closer you could borrow my articulating inspection camera

Ahhh missed that.
Is the frame open or closed ? Is there a bullet bouncing around in there?
