Had a tornado about 4 blocks from my house on Edisto Beach. Power is out, but generator is going strong. Riding it out.

Heard Edisto and Folly had some damage. I’ve got to go to sleep though, hopefully no rude awakenings.

Stay safe man. I know there is little you can do about those quick spin-up tornados, but good luck. I hope it doesn't stay offshore very long before moving inland and then out to the northern Atlantic, but it will probably be a long 3 or 4 days. Stalling tropical systems are a pain.

It looked huge going across the marsh between the causeway and here, but most of that was probably rain.

Is this a good time to point out that Hurricane Debby produced a higher recorded gust and a higher recorded sustained wind than Major Category 3 Hurricane Idalia? It did so at the exact same weather station on Horshoe Beach. Horshoe Beach produced the third highest wind gust, 80mph, as well as the highest sustained wind, 72mph, measured in Major Category 3 Hurricane Idalia.

Debby produced a 98mph gust and a 70mph sustained wind at Horshoe Beach. That gust is 13mph higher than anything officially measured with Idalia at landfall, and the highest sustained wind officially measured with Idalia was just 2mph higher than that of Debby.

This was my prediction at work. A strengthening Cat 1 Debby vs a weakening “Cat 3” Idalia which should have been a Cat 1.

Border patrol agents recovered 25 packages of cocaine blown onto a Florida Keys beach by Hurricane Debby, which was downgraded to a tropical storm Monday.

A beachgoer found the packages at a beach in the archipelago and contacted authorities

The 70 pounds of the addictive drug had a street value of more than $1 million

Who knew the cartels were using hurricanes to smuggle in drugs!

Really was expecting this sentence to end differently

Dude I called this about 3 days ago. I said it would begin to almost stall and the rain for SC and NC would be historic. I just went to weather.com and they are finally saying rainfall/flooding will be historic.

Dammmmn, we got us a modern day Nostradamus up in here. Absolutely amazing. Someone bookmark this historical moment in time. Next thing you know he'll predict the sun will rise 3 days from now.

Just spoke to our contact in Madison FL and they were told that the were not allowing charities to setup and serve food. The local government said that last year after Idalia the local resturants who had power complained about us providing free meals.

We have never had that happen before.

Our contact said the power restoration is running quickly and most will be restored in the next couple of days, but that there are a lot of people who live in trailers (Madison is one of the poorest parts of Florida) and they might have power at the pole but they dont have a roof or have significant damage.

He said damage was far worse last year but there is a need but for us not to come.

Its kind of disheartening. We want to help those in need but the local government wont allow it. That is the kind of stuff that happens in third world areas.

Edit: they do have the red cross serving the crappy food and Church of the Highlands free tree cutting and removal teams are allowed in.

At 40 mph it’s barely a TS now, but looks like it’s about to get over water again. I’m no expert though like some on here, so I won’t speculate about Debby’s future.

Haven’t left my house today, but I’m only seeing reports of flooding in downtown Charleston in the usual places. Of course, a few more days of rain to go.

Nothing remarkable to report by us. I heard that they brought in some additional pumps from the state to help ease things. This was from right around high tide this morning and it's no worse than we see with normal summer storms. Actually less bad as I've seen this corner of the parking lot like a lake and you could waterski from Westedge all the way to Hagood.
