GF is freaking about because her friend's husband works for a maritime company and their proprietary weather forecast is supposedly for 15-20 inches of rain on the Northshore. Legit, or thirdhand garbled female information?

off frenchtown. loved there since '02 and august was the first time it even threatened to flood. of course after almost 6' in the house, any big rain has me concerned

i drive down frenchtown on the way home from work every day and the amount of water i've seen in the lower areas after a couple inches of rain is kinda scary. post flood i'm talking about

definitely doesnt drain like it used to

im not too far from you but i didnt flood last time so i'm not worried. good luck

The "proprietary" maritime forecasts have so far been all over the place.

"20 foot seas! No, wait probably more like 8... But it could be 12! Nope, definitely 20+! OK, it's definitely gonna rain but..."

I'd like to think folks are overestimating based on PTSD of the 2016 flood. I sure hope we are not dealing with that again.

What makes this worse is that, according to the 1pm NHC update, this thing is almost stationary. Places already getting heavy rain will continue to get it for many hours ahead.

Rain chart I saw earlier had the most projected around the miss/bama border at over 15-20 inches. If that chart is to be believed on the current path I would think a shift west would be a bigger negative to SE LA depending on how far it shifts. Seems like a 50 mile difference could be huge.

What are the chances this thing accumulates strength and moisture just sitting over open Gulf water like that?
