Amid a continuing deluge of reports detailing just how pervasive sexual harassment and assault are throughout U.s. culture, TripAdvisor is taking steps to protect its customers. Now, as users peruse hotel and resort options while they're planning their next vacation, they'll see an advisory banner next to any place that's been a location of sexual assault. The icons were introduced this week and are meant to identify a series of concerns ranging from health to safety to discrimination. The badges will be issued any time the company perceives a current issue as relayed by either users or the news media and they'll remain on the site for up to three months. If the issue persists, the badge could remain on hotel or resort for an extended period of time.

So, anytime the company PERCEIVES an issue, they badge the hotel. Sounds fair.

Silly. Like blaming the bench for a homeless guy masturbating on it.

This is the tourism equivalent of letting the public maintain the sex offender registry.

Well, to be fair, I wouldn't want to sit on a bench someone was punching the clown on.

CONVICTED sexual assault? Or accused hotels? This could be a blood bath.

I think the warning is a compromise. It doesn’t mention “sexual assault”. It warns guests that they might want to do more research into the hotel because problems have been reported.

This is exactly what's going to happen, and what if a 5 star hotel has had 1 sexual assault case in 20 years of service?

Wouldn't this probably just hurt hotels in lower income areas?

If I'm a hotel , I am pissed off at this. It's not your resorts fault that someone with frick you money decides to be a piece of shite and rape someone or sexually harass them. Drunk dude at an all inclusive spanks a woman on the arse...hotel fricked? BS
