This piece of shite gets to get out and have a family and enjoy midlife on. Justice would be him rotting in there until his 60's or older.

Assuming he makes parole on the early side, which is unlikely. Will probably be 25 years at the earliest. 25 prison years is like 40. You ain’t okay when you get out. Most are broken physically and/or mentally.

He caught shite for his earlier comments which seemed weak, but in context with this, he had a sharp eye on this even in the midst of his excruciating pain.

So instead of being specific about which blacks he is pointing out you prefer to group all blacks together.

And who do think is being racist????

Megan Metcalf, the victim's mother, talked about raising two energetic, loving souls. "Now I only have videos and memories of his laugh," she told Anthony. She talked about the morning of the track meet. She said she packed her son a snack and gave him a hug without knowing it would be the last time she'd ever feel his arms around her. "You may have been given a sentence of 35 years. You should feel lucky. I've been sentenced to a lifetime without my son," she said.

IMO the prosecutor should have had AM’s mother, aunt and brother speak during the sentencing phase, not after the sentence was rendered. I think that may have resulted in a longer sentence being passed down. A 35 year sentence that could end up being 17, resulting in an early-30s KA being released from prison, does NOT fit the crime.

I think KA is weak-minded and is unlikely to be able to serve a good-behavior sentence for 17 years. I expect he’ll serve 35 but think 50 would have been more appropriate.

I’m not saying it wasn’t the right verdict, but I think I could have gotten a lighter sentence than that.

It’s an incredibly light sentence.

How would you have “gotten” him a lighter sentence?

The jury wasn’t buying his mom’s bullshite. Bringing his teachers and whoever else to say the same things wouldn’t have changed it.

How is murder generally not automatically a life sentence?

You robbed someone of their life. I can understand manslaughter because my understanding is manslaughter is usually a genuine accident?

But I mean any kind of intentional murder how can you put a value on that like 35 years?

I wonder how someone who can't even handle another guy telling them to leave a tent, will handle prison?

I would have put him on the stand and we’d have gotten manslaughter and 15 years.

The prosecution shredded all the defense witnesses. They needed to do something.

I don’t think that 35 even with parole was THAT light of a sentence. I think it was just right. His prime years are going to be spent behind bars and this does effectively ruin his life. Which it should, because he killed someone.

It literally couldn’t have gotten worse. They needed to try to humanize him and have him explain how he feared for life.

If you’re claiming self-defense and you don’t even have not 1 witness that tries that paint that picture, you have to do it yourself.

As I said, I’m not saying any of it was wrong, but his attorney didn’t help him at all.
The prosecution destroyed his last witness and they just rest? What a terrible strategy.

Only if the kid put on the performance of a lifetime, which he certainly would not have. He'd be screaming at the prosecutor like Samuel L in A Time To Kill.

I don’t think that you really understand the murder laws in Texas like you think you do.
