re: Treasury secretary says ‘we will see’ about $2,000 rebate checks

I doubt those checks ever actually get approved. I do question the cost/benefit analysis of the whole thing.
But who am I kidding. I will most certainly gladly spend the money if I receive it.

This is one of the reasons we can’t have nice things. People like you who happen to have enough money to live well will become indignant and jealous if we give any tax rebates to anyone who works hard but still needs more money to make ends meet.
You’ll vote to sink the whole thing instead of giving tax rebates to people who actually could legitimately use them.
No sense of goodwill or charity or anything. Only thing that matters is me, me, & me.

How about we just remove the blanket tariffs?

What a mornic decision to have tariffs. If maga knew how to read, they would be very upset

I think you're overestimating the net income of an Executive Burger Chef at Whataburger. Even with lots of overtime, it ain't as high paying as some may thing.

You shut your mouth.
If DJT says it’s good for the country, it’s good for the country. If we keep the pressure on countries, including those inhabited only by penguins, we will win so much we will get sick of winning.

Hear me out, though.
Maybe, just maybe, we stop with all these "stimulus" payments. Throwing extra cash, from the printing presses since tariff revenue ain't going to cover this entire idea, is only going to exacerbate inflation.

If this creates more inflation, no thanks.

You understand we have a progressive rate bracket, right? And we already means test several credits.

And Pell Grants for college. And free/reduced lunch. WIC.
Not that I don't think those programs and others like those have merit. They do. But at some point, can we please stop playing income redistribution/class warfare for votes? That's what the Trump Administration is now doing.

For homeowners and those who hold assets, the distribution of stimulus checks may appear beneficial in the short term, as the nominal dollar value of their assets is likely to rise due to the resulting monetary expansion. However, this increase reflects inflation rather than genuine wealth creation.
The more troubling outcome is that the very individuals these stimulus payments are intended to assist—typically lower-income households with limited savings or asset ownership—will ultimately bear the greatest burden.
In essence, this represents another instance of unsound fiscal and monetary policy that disproportionately harms the most economically vulnerable segments of society under the guise of helping them.

I am not an O-T Baller and would be smiling like a jackass when I saw my tariff rebate check hit my online bank statement, but wasn't government stimulus payments the thing that kickstarted inflation to begin with?
Trump seems to have a blind spot on inflation/cost of living, which is strange because Trump is typically a master of reading the voters. Inflation/cost of living was the top issue in every 2024 exit poll with voters and it wasn't even close.

Need to understand that 2016-2017 Trump and 2024-2025 Trump are kind of two different people at this stage. Part of it being 8 years older, creeping up to 80 years old.

Or maybe just not enact a hodgepodge of randomized tariffs and change your mind daily in the first place.
