I rarely travel, but currently I find myself in the middle of a two week trip. Sitting in a hotel lobby reading message boards while a Hampton Inn staff sits around with me bored out of their mind. The young black guy at the counter is strangely solving a crossword puzzle instead of browsing his phone. I racked up a pretty large dining bill in the first week (on company dime), but even eating out at the highly rated local restaurants is losing it's appeal. I'll walk across the parking lot to a Ruby Tuesday for what will be a presumably sad meal tonight.

Read a damn book or something. You’re acting like a bored 12 year old.

What city are you currently stuck in? Surely there is something to do or see.

This is an odd detail.

You have a good job and your company is paying for your food, travel, and accommodations so why are you complaining? Be grateful and feel fortunate/blessed instead.

If this is the case, I'm impressed by his commitment. The head honcho (that I met on my first day here) isn't here right now. I'm still working on figuring out the rest of the hierarchy.

I don't think I'm complaining, more so just stating how I feel. And I feel depressed. Not a 'real' depressed, but a spending your Sunday afternoon in a Hampton Inn lobby depressed.

Not if you're traveling to open up new areas for the company you own. Then it's a lot of fun.

I love it. It’s like a vacation kinda. See new places, eat new food, meet new people. When I go to conferences or site visits I always enjoy myself, even the plane trips too.

Cameras are now used to spy on employees.

You sound like a whiny bitch. Its Sunday afternoon. What do you expect? Go out and site see or something if you are that bored.

I had about 110 hotel stays last year for work. While certain parts (and cities) of it can suck..I'm looking at you Bakersfield and Fresno, CA.

I've also gotten to do and see some pretty cool shite over the past 5 years doing it.

I enjoy seeing new cities and exploring parts of them I've never been to.

Get out of the hotel is my suggestion.

Consider it a blessing. You’re experiencing a different part of our great country on someone else’s dime.

Just trying to be positive.

Get shitfaced in the hotel bar and make a scene. Throw some chairs or something spontaneous, live a little
