Travel spinoff - I’ve travelled too much and now few things impress me

If there ever was a true OT baller thread I guess this would be it.
Not trying to sound stuck up or anything but I’ve been all over Europe, Hawaii, all over the US, and to Central America all before 30 and now very few things impress me. I find it hard to enjoy things I should enjoy now and I think it may be because I’ve seen and experienced so much already.
People go to Alaska and rave about a whale or ice berg and I’m just here thinking “big deal. I’ve walked around the inside of a volcano on two different continents” or others go on and on about vacationing in the mountains in Canada and I’m thinking “Whoopty doo, Basil. I’ve hiked to the top of the highest peak on the southern coast of France and took in the views of the Mediterranean and France from atop”.
Don’t get me wrong, I still like to travel and as much as I’ve done, my bucket list still includes the western US. I want to take a road trip out west and see the Grand Canyon. I want to eat at some random Mexican restaurants out there. And BBQ, too. I just find it hard to be in awe of others’ travels and experiences except for the Western US.
I don’t know, I saw the other thread about traveling and figured I’d see if other OTers are like me in this regard.

Kinda, and I do get where you're coming from.
I prefer depth to varied experiences these days and focusing more on my own region.

Good. Glad to know I’m not weird. Unless we’re both weird.

I don’t consider that to be all that impressive. Certainly better traveled than a lot, but nothing to brag about, which you’re trying to do.

I own a vacation house in all of those places, all before 30

LINK
Can’t post pictures for some reason but that link is what is wrong with travel. The selfie comes first. People can’t post it on social media then there is no point

Without knowing you or how you travel, it sounds like you might be what I call a postcard traveler. Put simply, you bounce from place to place seeing the sights they put on post cards. That shite will wear out anyone. Try spending a bit more time in each place, get used to them, and branch out. As an example, I slated three nights in Rome in my first visit. Liked it fine, but didn’t love it. Then my flight out got cancelled and couldn’t get rebooked for two days. Those next 48 hours completely changed my perspective on Rome. I moved more slowly through a city I now found more familiar. I saw things off the beaten path. Simply being there for five days instead of three utterly changed my perspective on the city.
But, you may stay in one spot for long periods of time already, and that was all wasted ink
P.S. Go to the Grand Canyon. Walking to the edge of my first vista was the closest thing I’ve had to a religious experience in decades.

Pretty much everything wrong with a certain subset of travelers. Trying to impress.

Everything in the US is boring to me.

This post may be the douchiest sounding post on here today.
Can only imagine what your friends think of you. Those that aren't financially able to travel much can't even get excited about their trips around you without you likely one uping their plans with stories of where you have gone.

But felt like setting up your own thread for the "walked in volcanos, but not the basic American Grand Canyon vacation spot" brag.
I've traveled enough, including the GC, to be similar though. Especially with so many pictures, and videos of places available not much sticks out as impressive to go see.

Create your own, screw what anyone else thinks or experiences.
We all see the world through different eyes.

His whole life revolves around trying to impress people from his hometown he doesn't know. Hes on of those "I got out and I'm better than you" types.

quote:Trying to brag about something that isn't that impressive is a bit stuck up. I had all of that done plus South America and Africa before I was 25. It really isn't a big deal. As others have said, get off the beaten path and enjoy the smaller things that make each country its own. Sitting at tourist attractions 24/7 gets old quick.

I have a friend who is an OB/Gyn.
He’s seen & felt more boobies than the law should allow.
He still enjoys the view of a nice rack bundled up in a bikini top.
You’ve got a YOU problem with YOUR expectations, I’m at around 30 countries travelled in and I would go back to at least half of them and find new sights and certainly new experiences there.
Hell, I could go back to Germany, Ireland, or the UK for two or three years straight or so and enjoy myself if I didn’t have familial responsibilities & ties.
As Zevon famously said: “Enjoy every sandwich.”
