5) people that are just jealous because they cant afford it and their mad their kid is getting left behind.

I coach (reluctantly). I think travel ball the way it is now is dumb, but the state of many rec departments is so terrible that many people don't have a choice. Our kids would get to have 1 practice in rec and then start games. You can't teach shite in one practice or 10 or so rec games.

I don't give a shite if we win a single game next season. If I can see that the majority of the kids have improved from beginning to end, I will feel like I have done my part

Golf has boomed here among all the baseball guys. They are all playing tons of golf. My son who played on a successful majors team from 10-14 plays two and three times a week with his baseball buddies. They have cross pollinated with the good junior golfers.

He loves it. Wish we had discovered it sooner.

And the MLS uses then to recruit talent.

Because rich kids with other options make better pro athletes than poor Honduran kids and a $5 walmart ball.

This is simply completely untrue. Travel ball helps but its by no means everything. Everything is practicing and playing, a lot. There are tons of poor white, black, and hispanic (and whatever else) that grow up in areas that either don't have travel ball teams or they are just too poor. Those kids make it all the time. What travel ball does is help kids face better competition and more importantly, see better competition so they know how much they need to practice to be better individually. Every single year there are scholarship athletes at every SEC school that grew up not playing travel ball or at least not until they made varsity and were recruited by someone.

Are you involved with high level high school baseball like i am? Because you don’t know wtf you are talking about.

Show me 1 kid in the sec that signed this year that didn’t grow up playing travel or some academy.

Fact is you can’t.

I’m around some the best hs baseball in the country….when you are only keeping 10-12 kids max per year..yea it is true. You are not making a high level hs baseball team without playing.

All the kids at

Barbe, Sam Houston, Sulphur, stm, St. Louis, teurlings, , Catholic, st amant, destrahan, all the Nola Catholic schools, west Monroe etc….very single kid played travel, every one.

Ha, travel baseball in LC is very very tame even by Louisiana standards compared to other states. Teams around here play way way less than other places in the state.

As far as essay post, doesn’t take long to type it out. Of course I misspell have the shite, but oh well

What’s so funny about that? I’m not talking mlb, I’m talking the different divisions in travel.

Where did I say baseball? I said SEC scholarship athletes.

But yes, you are right, junior and senior year when they already made varsity.

What I’m saying is that there’s a ton of kids that basically grow up in small towns and crush it and are recruited to either travel teams or bigger HS teams and then go to travel teams.

They didn’t get made from travel ball, they added to it. If you can’t understand that I’m sorry.

Same thing with basketball. And other sports.

I agree. As a travel bawl coach, for the most part it's just travel rec. Yes the elite kids play on regional or national teams against better competition, but that's not true for 98% of kids. The biggest difference is the amount of practice the kids get to have over rec ball.

When I played travel, there was 1 team for my age that had 12-13 players from 4-5 different parishes. Now there's 4 teams for every age in our small town.
