Contract costs will go up by $8m even with the loss of a day pick up.
Recycling to return in November.

It can't smell any worse.

When do they start giving out 2nd(or 3rd) garbage cans? And they haven't been picking up recycling?

Once a week pickup, and I bet they dont pickuo anything that isnt inside the one can you pay for?

I'm amazed at how people still brag about living in that shithole

I currently only get trash pickup once a week. It’s really not that big of a deal.
But the $8m rise in cost for 50% of the current service? That’s some bullshite right there.

for comparison, I don't have an outdoor trash can. I have to take my trash to the truck but they come by 3x a day every day except for Sunday and recycling picks up 4x a week.

The whole recycling thing is a joke. They take the trucks to the landfill, nothing is seperated, just dumped with the regular trash.

It's more New Orleans than getting shot while driving on the interstate

Someone investigated recycling after Ida and it turns out they have just been brining it to the dump.... or so I've heard.

Yeah, I'm wondering what kind of trash some of these people are generating. The cans are huge. We rarely come close to filling one in a week. 4 people in my household.
The cost deal is a whole other issue of course, but I'm cool with the once a week otherwise.

Do they pick up bodies as well?

No kids? Our can is full most pick ups. During football season I need two since I typically host the get togethers.

We used to live out in semi rural (at the time) Livingston Parish and it was once per week. We had to rent a 2nd can to make it 7 days. If they managed to miss you occasionally, which happened to us some, we were screwed. EBR has much better trash service.

Once a week pickup could be coming to Baton Rouge as well. I'm told the current contract is being rebid, and regardless of what is eventually chosen or accepted, rates will rise. Given the size of homeowner trash cans, unless a family has diapers, or rotting crawfish heads, I'd think once a week would be enough for most.

So they are turning into Livingston Parish....but slightly darker
