Intersex disorders are legit medical conditions that either cause some degree of ambiguous genitalia, a mismatch between chromosomes and physical characteristics, or (rarely) true hermaphroditism. I don’t really have an issue with allowing people to check that box if they feel it’s necessary.
How many people are going to want to check a box that says “transgender”, though? Doesn’t that defeat the purpose? Also anyone who marks “non-binary” is WAY overthinking it. Just mark the box that goes with your biological sex and try not to get bent over silly things like pronouns. It’s not like you’ll magically be free of social consequences inherent in being a nonconformist just because somebody gave you your own special box on a form.
But yay for unnecessarily complicated forms. That’s really moving us forward as a society.
