A-hole here. Did the military pay for your transition (incl. therapies/pharm. treatment/surgeries)? Do you know how the DSM-IV defines your condition?

Also (agreeing with you): these children have no right to Autonomy under medical law. And they should not. They have a right to beneficence only. If we allow them instead this "autonomous" "choice" in a state of true disinformation, then similarly we should no longer have informed consent discussions with parents for medical procedures upon their children. This and the abortion debacle are the greatest medical human rights tragedies of our time. The regressive marxist view cannot follow this logic.

This is so monumentally stupid.

No, I was a traditional Guardsmen the last four years of my career. All costs incurred were paid out of pocket. I did not go through Tricare or the VA, so the DSM classification is moot. I retired promotable to O5 but could not transfer to the Reserves as I would have been a new accession and under the current DoD guidelines, was prohibited from switching service components as trans.

And there are mental disorders where the brain sees things that aren't there. So it's a mental disorder. Thanks for clearing this up.

I wish they would put the effort that they do into normalizing transgender behavior, into solving cancer.

When is the last time you heard of that happening?

Are you suggesting gay or transgender people never get accosted for being gay/trans in the "wrong" places? It isn't just accosted they have been beaten and even killed for the horrible transgression of being.

Divisiveness and hate is not a one-way street.

I’d bet the true causation lies in personality type, not transgenderism.

My first thought was that a child identifying as someone of the opposite sex may actually change the structure of the brain. “Correlation does not imply causation”.

I’m no expert, obviously, but these things fascinate me

scientists are the best, they can make shite up, doctor up their findings, get more grant money. Then get some other colleges involved, push their shite even more and get the large grant stash.

No one questions their findings these days, it's taken as fact.

So is this the derogatory mantra now? I seem to remember when similar studies were ignored when the preferred argument was that homosexuality was a choice.

Homosexuality is a choice, or actions based on a mental defect. Unless someone can point to a groundbreaking scientific study that says its genetic. Oh wait, they've already abandoned that search. And now are onto epigenetic causes. And still no luck even with that

Just because the scientific community got terrorized into changing definitions, doesn't mean they did it based on data

Love and desire are not rigidly heterosexual or homosexual but fluid, changing as women move through the stages of life, and various social groups - Lisa Diamond, PhD Harvard

quote:

At best genetics is a minor factor, because identical twins are always genetically identical, homosexuality cannot be genetically dictated. No one is born gay - Dr. Neil Whitehead, PhD

quote:

Homosexuality is triggered by environmental factors during childhood. Genetic changes after birth can determine whether a man is straight or gay. University of California presenters at the annual meeting of the American Society of Human Genetics

quote:

The belief that sexual orientation is an innate, biologically fixed human property, that people are ‘born that way’ is not supported by scientific evidence. - Drs. Lawrence S. Mayer and Paul R. McHugh, Johns Hopkins University.

All you have to do is make being transgender punishable by death and there won’t be any more transgenders. One less thing

But feminism said that men and women are identical, there is no difference between them, women can do everything men can, and they are interchangeable, so there is no “men’s” or “women’s” brains.

What was the measure used to compare these brains?

Has the above measure been replicated in other studies and shown to be valid?

Has the study been replicated at other academic institutions to support its validity?

If not, yawn........
