Weird how much this place obsesses over trans stuff.

I've seen em, and I keep on walking and never think about it after.

Strange.

Interesting. So hormones have no effect on brains and thoughts. I knew it all along.

Science!

A new study led by a Belgian neurologist found that brain activity in transgender people resembles that found in cisgender people of their gender more than their sex assigned at birth.

needs more study. The brain can change its structure or area of activity by any number of things. Meditation, psychotherapy, drug use, exercise, trauma, etc all change the neural network in the brain.

not arguing for or against either side but using this as evidence to encourage a lifestyle that a child may not want when they're older is risky

I’m sure that’s how everyone here felt until they started telling us where to take a piss, suing for “discrimination”, and just generally acting like arseholes

I call bullshite. What do we know about "Julie Bakker of the University of Liege"? What is her ax to grind? Her views/opinions could be motivating her "findings". Just because she says it, doesn't mean it is true!

All that does is further prove transgenderism is in fact a mental disorder.

Can someone explain what this means?

Some people have the brain patterns of sociopaths but are not sociopaths.

From what I’ve heard there’s more to it than that. Bruce Jenner says he felt like he was always in the wrong body. Not just in the wrong clothes.

The way I understand it is this fits what the transgender community believes. Therefore this board says it can't be true.

So a girl born with a vagina, who says she feels/thinks like a boy, is in fact feeling/thinking like a boy in relation to her brain activity.

So boys and girls have differences in brains? I thought we were all equal.

Analysis of around 160 participants showed that biological males with gender dysphoria - the experience of discomfort or distress due to their biological sex - had a brain structure and neurological patterns similar to biological females, and vice versa.

So women and people who think they are women think differently from Men. I think we've been saying this all along, but we were told there was no difference. But now all of a sudden there is. So were you lying to us then or now?

Has the trans community actually said there is no difference between the thought processes of men and women? I don't pay much attention to this subject but that seems counter-intuitive do you have any linkable examples of this?

Right.

I’d bet the true causation lies in personality type, not transgenderism.

Gobbledygook. Balderdash. Without research on my part, I believe this is complete BS. I'll bet there is no difference in the brains of either. Oh we humans...such a complicated species.

I don’t know, but the topic keeps coming up.

Look y’all, I’m trans. I’ve known I was different since I was 7 and finally put all the pieces together at 13. I’ve said it before in multiple threads in the last couple of months. I was in Baton Rouge last week for my grandmother’s funeral and was scared shitless about being out and about.

You know what happened going outside to places in BR? Nothing. Nada. Zilch. Went to Goodwood hardware, Calvin’s, Superior, Sammy’s and Top Golf and nobody said or did anything weird (except on girl staring a bit at Top Golf). Nobody cared (or maybe they did, I don’t know).

But everyone was cool in BR when I had preconceived notions that they weren’t going to be. That made me feel nice as BR is where I was born, lived for a bit and still have a boatload of family.

Listen, I just want to live my life as normally as humanly possible. Just like everyone else.

Uhm.

In their world a transgender boy is a girl that believes she’s a boy and a transgender girl is a boy that believes he’s a girl.

I’m not clicking that link but we’re any of these kids in hormone therapy? Also how old were they when this study was conducted? As someone mentioned earlier, meditation, psychoactives, and even hormones impact brain structure and function
