One year....
If I'm reading this right, the 1 lane in each direction from the MS Bridge until past the 10/110 split won't happen until 2024 when I10 is reduced to 2 lanes in each direction.

Closest is St John in Plaquemine?

I imagine you became very knowledgeable of the BR bar/happy hour scene.

During this traffic coming into BR over the bridge is going to be way worse than it even is now.

I-10 will go down to one lane around the curve at 110. Right now it's two lanes and the Washington St exit is about 500 feet after the merge into 110. Not to mention it's going to be one narrow lane with traffic coming at you with a thin divider between. Talk about a shite show.

Traffic is going to back up to Grosse Tete every day

Then move to EBR? You can't live far away and complain about the time to get there.

You know who’s done more to frick up a loop than the NIMBYs? The ghetto dwellers who think they’re gonna get a million dollars for their shitty inner city home and refuse to take anything less and the politicians who squabble about the route of the proposed loop.

And yes, they’re separate entities from the middle class people who oppose construction that will negatively impact their home values

This is such a BS post. Yep, the families that own 80 year old crackerjack shotgun houses on Thomas Delpit or North Foster have really stopped BR from building a loop through Central or along Airline for the past 50 years?

Holy Family maybe? I thought they were K-12 but I may be wrong.

Catholic of Pointe Coupee and False River Academy is a little far north. But I know people who live in WBR (Port Allen or north) and send their kids to private school in New Roads.

The Brusly people tend to use public schools.

Looking at the map, if you take LA1 to I-10 and exit at Nicholson, you might not be quite as screwed as the people going farther east beyond the 110 split. It wont be pleasant, but might sort of still work for St Joseph’s, U High, or Catholic of BR if they get to school early.

ETA. This will be really nice when the work is done.

I get a feeling they’re trying to find a way out of this construction project now that they realize how big of a boondoggle it will be. Every proposal gets worse and worse.

I laughed when I saw that the state allocated a four $175 million for the project a few years back and though that would get them most of the way. I figured they were not getting out of there for less than 4 times that.

It’s going to happen. They already started work on the flyover at College and they know which piers have to be replaced already. And their budget is now over $700 million.

From what I’ve seen of the layout and design, it’s going to be a game changer. It includes service roads in some sections, massive shoulders (big enough to accommodate another lane if needed), the correction of the 110 curve, and an eastbound on ramp for Dalrymple.

Yep. We live in Addis and my kids have attended public schools here. One of the reasons we chose to live here

No one will even be trying to use the Interstate when this is finally over. Bold strategy.

Better make friends with the US 190 bridge and the Audubon Bridge. Because it might be faster just to use them instead.

Going through Morgan city to go to Nola might be a better option.

So, it will get more people to the bottleneck quicker? That's nice.

They don’t have to cut it down to one lane each direction, but it supposedly knocks a year off of the construction time. Might save money also.

I’m not sure that the headache it is going to create is worth it those savings.

They tried and tried and tried. Dayum. People need to learn BR history. Kip Holden pushed this loop idea for years but the surrounding parishes and elected folks killed his idea. Holden was a visionary but the citizens of the day (and those who biatch unknowingly today) are the reason we can't have nice things.
