Traffic flow will change next year as they widen I-10 in Baton Rouge (it's going to suck)

I know Baton Rouge desperately needs this project, but this is going to be VERY painful for a while. Turns out they have to replace most of the foundation for the elevated section, so it's not just a matter of widening it and only closing off the shoulders or even just one lane at a time.

All traffic (east and westbound) may have to fit on the current westbound lanes while they widen and rebuild the foundation for the elevated eastbound lanes. Then they may have to repeat the process to rebuild the westbound section.

Better make friends with the US 190 bridge and the Audubon Bridge. Because it might be faster just to use them instead.

That's going to be a costly change order.

Has there been a time in the last 40 years that the interstate has not been worked on in BR?

I understand that this is a bigger project, but c’mon man

Well, nothing really changes for eastbound. Still 1 lane.

Holy shitballs. A recent edition of the BR Business Report showed Baton Rouge has the 4th-worst traffic in the nation. This will put us on top!

Guarantee you we could go to any other state in the country and find a way to do this better, faster, and with less inconvenience than it will
Be done here.

Just imagine thanksgiving traffic and other major
Holidays while this is going on.

I think they should hold off and use the money to do a new study first.

That’s exactly what was discussed at the public meetings.

Best thing to do at this point is to have govt agencies and private companies adjust work shifts.

I'm glad I rarely drive that stretch of interstate but I'm sure it's going to cause issues on surface streets too.

This would be so much easier on the city had they built a bypass first, but nooOOOOOooooo.
I, for one, anticipate using the Sunshine Bridge more than I have in my entire life.

At least now you can get around the trucks using the exit lane. I can't imagine how slow they'll take the construction zone

You’ll have to leave earlier for your Hair Slangaz appointments if Sherwood gets backed up
