Yeah let’s go eye for an eye on these pieces of shite
I’m all for heinous punishments for crimes like this
He deserves a lifetime of sexual enslavement in Parchman. Wish the boys down there would get him BBC airtight constantly and make him wish he were dead on a daily basis

Yeah the dad also begged that he not be released bc he knew he would kill her. They reduced the bond and never told the parents or the girl and he left from there and went straight to hattiesburg and killed her. The dad had begged them to hold him and to let them know when/if he was released from jail. They didnt and know the girl is dead. The dad said he wouldve drove straight from the coast to hattiesburg to pick his little girl up if he knew that hed been released. So sad

Looks like he’s been dipping into that meth since that photo

Terrible story. Lowering his bond and then releasing that animal without notice or GPS monitor is horribly reckless.

Allow judges to be sued if they reduce bail and something like this happens. That will fix this quickly.

Man, I can't imagine
That is soul crushing to read that account of events.
A lot of people have some serious explaining to do and those responsible should be held accountable.
I don't know what more the father could have done in that situation besides pleading with his daughter to come back home and stay with them, the parents, until it was settled.
Even then, evil has a way of finding a way to do evil things.
RIP to the young lady and condolences to her family.

Police said Rivers assaulted the victim in the car, causing her to lose consciousness.
Officers could hear the victim banging on the vehicle as she tried to escape. Police said she was able to get out of the car when officers arrived.
So she was able to get out of the car when police arrived, but she was murdered?
That makes no sense...

I think that quote was from the previous incident right?
ETA: It was. That was the incident in Dec 2023.

Honestly, they need to execute that family member and the judge.
That's the only justice left.

That was from the original arrest. What’s funny?

Knowing him personally, very calculated and methodical. Big game hunter too. He’s got a massive room in his house, dedicated to his trophies. The biggest being a Himalayan brown bear (if I’m not mistaken). I say that because I guarantee you that judge and DA are squarely in his crosshairs and Dr. Johansen doesn’t miss.
Well what the frick was he waiting on? The dude had beaten up his daughter 6 times prior to him killing her.
No one is doing that to my daughter.

Lethal injection for Bricen is too easy, honestly.

I’m talking about the last 5 years. The father admitted that the dude had beat the shite out of her 6 other times.
What are you doing if that’s your daughter? I know what I’m doing.
I couldn’t live knowing he was breathing the same air as me.

That’s the part that I was confused about. Obviously I’m not trying to blame the victim’s family, but I was shocked that he let it get to that point.
quote:
“I sat in the courtroom in Nashville and told the judge that if they let him out, he was going to kill her,” Lance Johansen said. “He had assaulted her — this was probably the fifth or sixth time where they would get into a fight and he would beat her. We would get her away from him for a while, but he would find a way to weasel back in it.”
I just can’t imagine how he could let his daughter go on vacation with a guy that had already beaten the shite out of her 5 times previously. I just don’t know how you let the guy “weasel back in it” at that point.

this article goes into a lot of detail

Looks like she had a nice fiance, but went back to this POS.
trash judge.
I disagree with this. I don't see how he deserves to live. Also, I doubt seriously he would even regret it. He lives knowing he accomplished what he wanted. He's a POS who likely has no remorse. There is no rehabilitating a monster like this either. He shouldn't have been released, especially without warnings.

Lauren was studying to become a nurse practitioner at the University of Southern Mississippi in Hattiesburg where she lived next door to Nick, who was coincidentally training to become a nurse after three years in the military.
'She came back from a trip and asked me to check if the house was safe – that's when I found him hiding underneath the bed,' Nick told DailyMail.com in an exclusive interview.
'He had wedged or nailed the doors shut with the idea that once she got in there she would have no way to get out.
'I reached for my firearm and I gave him 30 seconds to leave the premises. He was gone by 19.'
As Nick and Lauren grew closer, jealous Rivers – who had previous arrests for drug possession, auto burglary and DIU - continued to plague their lives.
'Lauren told me stories about how he had beaten and stalked her. I was never going to stand for that,' Nick went on.
'He was a coward and there was no way he would step to me. But he would come back at nighttime and watch us through the windows or follow us around.
Looks like she had a nice fiance, but went back to this POS.

The engagement lasted just several months, however.
Lauren suddenly broke things off in October and Nick discovered that she had rekindled her relationship with Rivers.
He put it down to the years of domestic abuse and emotional manipulation she suffered at his hands.
'Bricen was her first true boyfriend, he had taken advantage of her and her family for so long that he knew how to get to her,' Nick said.
'A good bit of my things were still at her house and when I went back to check on her he jumped out of a closet and aimed a gun at my forehead.
'I grabbed the weapon, turned it on him then disassembled it. I told him there would be no issue and that I'd be leaving. I left the gun disassembled in the middle of the floor.'
Nick's fears for Lauren came true in December when she was pistol-whipped and savagely beaten during a night out with Rivers in Nashville.
Cops found her covered in blood and wearing just her bra and panties after he allegedly held her captive in their rental car.

While Rivers was held on a $250,000 bond on aggravated kidnap charges Lauren was able to undergo therapy and tentatively rebuild her relationship with Nick.
Her surgeon dad Lance Johansen gave evidence at a preliminary hearing, warning Davidson County Judge Cheryl Blackburn that Rivers would kill his daughter unless she kept him locked up.

She was expected to retire in 2021 after suffering a stroke but surprisingly decided to stay on and won re-election a year later.

A report in the Nashville Banner suggests the judge stumbled over her words, mixed up names and even fell asleep several times during a recent trial amid concerns over her competency.
An unnamed defense attorney reportedly likened her performance to that of Joe Biden in the Presidential Debate.
trash judge.
quote:
If Rivers is found guilty of murdering Lauren he doesn't want to see him get the death penalty.
'I don't want him to die. I want him to suffer every day,' Nick explained.
'Lauren was kind, intelligent and outlandishly miraculous in every way, shape and form, there's no other way to describe it.
'I want him to regret killing her for the rest of his life.'

Judge Cheryl Blackburn complicity murdered this young woman.
The girl lied to the judge to get his bond reduced. In fact, she tried to get him off completely.
She said she started it and he never hit her with a closed fist. Then she ghosted the police. Refused to even return their calls.
