I will add a stuck as that truck looks, I’d be calling a tractor. But I understand trying.

Yup, looks like the suctioned to the ground kinda stuck.

This sucks. Things like this has to be the worst. One second you are just living your life and then the next, some random shite happens and its over.

Its something the wife and kid will live with for the rest of their life.

If you spend a lot of time offroading, take a vehicle recovery class.

It is nothing to frick around with and most people have no idea what they are doing.

That wasn't something random. He choose to be out there in a super duty mudding. And when he got stuck, which was a definite possibility, didn't have the proper gear to get unstuck.

I wouldn't have taken my 3/4 ton, I would have taken my RMAX4 1000. Wouldn't have gotten stuck but easy to recover.

They make a recovery ring that inserts into your trailer hitch from an anchor point to rope through or snatch from.

When in doubt re.ove the hitch and place the loop inside the reliever and pin in there.

That ball breaking off will come off like a damn cannon ball.

Only solid hitches bow for me as well. No more of the hollow shite.

Willing to bet Chinese bullshite killed somebody.

You can't blame the Chinese for everything. Use/user error seems to have been more of the reason in this case.

That’s why always use a chain

Chains can fail very violently. They do stretch some if stressed very hard. Definitely safer than cable, but don't snatch with it without something to dampen it.

Best way to handle it is just not get stuck. Drop you a 454 in a CJ7 4x4 with 3.5 foot lift, actually just make it 4, 44 inch shoes of the swamper variety. Fours are wild.

Oh my goodness. Hopefully he didn’t see it coming. If he did he definitely didn’t feel it.

That’s why always use a chain not a tow strap. Strap stretches and can slingshot shite

We load test chain, wire rope, synthetic slings at work. I’ve seen a chain fail and a link go through two walls. That’s four sheets of half inch plywood, insulation, and two sheets of sheet metal And that was after it flew almost 40 yards. NEVER use chain for this purpose.

saw a guy get killed in Ohio by a chain that snapped. Shot through his rear window.

That’s what I imagined when opening this. Not the other way. The speed needed for that hitch to go through a windshield and bend the wheel inward and still have the energy to kill the guy.

The metal that failed looks like an alloy that should be used to pull a wagon by hand or with a golf cart.

I know but I have never seen one in the wild. It’s one of those things most people don’t carry in the recovery kit

If you buy a proper recovery kit they come with them. The ARB kit I bought has one. First thing I thought when I saw the pics was he didnt have a weight on the line. Just absolutely horrific.
