Sorry if a repost, but holy cow. This guy died in front of his wife and kids when a drop hitch broke and shot thru the windshield. Horrible. Hopefully someone will see this and not try it.

Don't try to snatch a truck with a hitch and rope not designed to be snatched.

The headline didn't give it away? I see people using their ball hitch for this all the time, they probably think the strap might break and that's it. Probably don't think about the hitch coming at you.

What a horrible way to go

I got sunk in mud one time and had 3 or 4 one inch heavy braided 6’ tow straps that we feathered together. I was positive they were going to break but they pulled my tundra out of the mud with a good yank. Guess I won’t do that again.
Obligatory: that could have been me.

Most hitches are fricking junk. Ive lost track of how many our fleet has broken. We only buy the solid ones now from a couple different vendors because it’s no fun dragging a trailer with a mini excavator on it with the safety chains.

Hopefully quick... might have never seen it coming.
Definitely shouldn't have done that with a dropped hitch instead of a straight one, but I still would have bet on the strap failing first.

I saw a guy get killed in Ohio by a chain that snapped. Shot through his rear window.
I was far enough away to not really see the aftermath. Didn’t want to either. People don’t use the proper equipment very often

All you gotta do is put the strap loops where the hitch receiver is and put the pin in.

That’s why always use a chain not a tow strap. Strap stretches and can slingshot shite

I bet his face was all tow up
But seriously that’s a horrible deal. Wife and kids as witnesses ?! Sheesh

That's why you pop your hood. Might not stop it but it's a better chance than the glass.
