Its only fair to blame Mitch for his hand in this.

ETA: I forget just how long Teedy has been in, Mitch has been out sometimes.

I wouldn’t blame the crime. I would just say that New Orleans doesn’t have that much to offer.

The food isn’t even very good unless you venture out. I remember the 80s and 90s. You didn’t even have to leave the quarter for amazing dining options.

Mediocre food. Gross bourbon street. Then just add in the crime and gulch’s to top it off. Baton Rouge and NOLA are both headed one way.

Compare the crime stats from 2017 to 2019 to the stats from 2020 to 2023. They are night and day. The city was becoming safer. Now there is no law and order in New Orleans. The police and the criminal justice system are no longer functioning in New Orleans.

There are a 1000 other variables at least, your entire thesis is idiotic. There are many reasons for the lack of order, covid lockdowns being the least of the causes.

The lockdowns really screwed up the inner city youth in NOLA. We will reap the consequences of her covid hysteria for years to come.

Those youth are ignored/not cared for/taken for granted under pretty much all circumstances, really not sure why you think the lockdowns disrupted that at all. Lack of fathers/parent involvement at all, have had much larger impacts. Not to mention the perception that policeman are now guilty until proven innocent and have a much harder time doing their job.

Nobody wants to deal with having their windows bashed in.

When people ask me about New Orleans, I tell them visit at your own risk. I give them the best advice I can regarding the least dangerous places to park, and I give them the disclaimer that even in the “safer” areas, your car is vulnerable.

work in the CBD numb-nuts and see it with my own eyes.

As do I and it’s fine. You can argue Canal St has gotten worst, but CBD and Warehouse district are fine.

Taking my money to the River Ranch area of Lafayette isnt the same as New Orleans but my chances of getting dead much, much lower.

River Ranch is a tiny development though when you drive through it. There’s only so much to do there besides eating out at the City Club and nearby restaurants, along with shopping.

It’s definitely one of the nicest retirement villages in South LA, and that’s why the median home price there is $600k+.

I’ve always said this. NOLA is an event city that relies on sporting events and concerts for tourism. And the majority of the tourists that come to see those events are locals from LA, MS, and AL. Let’s be honest: outside of Louisiana and the surrounding states with very close proximity to NOLA, nobody gives a frick about the Saints.

It’s definitely not the hot-spot tourist destination that some of the clowns on here like to tout it as.

So instead of 20 million visitors NOLA will only have 19 million visitors?

Oh the horror

People with kids know how detrimental it was for families to be stuck inside for months on end, unable to get any space by going out to work and school. Imagine those extremely dysfunctional, often large families inside small houses together. “Youths” home from school for months on end, watching and playing who knows what screen trash 24hrs a day, having lost the only structure they had from school. Siblings fighting constantly with no outlets. I imagine there was a lot more abuse going on, and I think there are articles that mention it. Lots of little monsters were living in very stressful situations and became more of monsters.

Should note that these numbers don't reflect fall/winter numbers with Saints games. article you didn't want to link

You also have to factor in Air BnB’s and people that have bought condos and and stay in hotels as much as they used to

It’s been a record setting summer for travel, it’s just that international travel dominated the market share. For domestic travel big cities in the north were amongst the top of preferred destinations. NYC was the most visited place in the USA.
