Want to dedicate a long weekend to visit the WW2 museum in entirety. However I have no desire for it to be in in NOLA.

Stay on the Northshore, cross the Causeway, see the WW2 Museum, come back to the safety of the Northshore. Enjoy.

Now that people are willing to travel to Europe/Central America again New Orleans will see those numbers drop massively. Pre-covid tourism numbers were already looking pretty rough.

Pre covid was historic highs for the city.

This year just didn’t shake out great on convention rotations. Q3 of this year was historically bad for conventions even when judged vs other summers.

Next years Q3 is SUBSTANTIALLY better. Not great still but waaay better.

And it’s rough by comparison to last year when June had multiple huge conventions. Really, Q2 2022 was banner and let a lot of businesses/employees create a solid nest egg before a mediocre summer.

This year was notably weaker in Q2 and just catastrophic in the summer.

Part bad luck on rotations and locking conventions in when normal cycles were blown up. Part crime concerns but most urban convention markets have some of that. Part conventions pulling from abortion related regulations. All 3 impacted Q2/Q3 this year.

It’s not great. A few mid tier Medical, workboat, safety council… I think the largest is about 5k rooms on peak? Which is where you start to see it impact the CBD but not even reach the quarter.

By comparison next year Q4 has 4 conventions that are 8,000-12,000(?) rooms contracted on peak plus 3 nights of Taylor, which is a ridiculous impact as concerts go.

Taking my money to the River Ranch area of Lafayette isnt the same as New Orleans but my chances of getting dead much, much lower.

Good luck finding world class sports, entertainment, etc in Lafayette. Opinions such as this are complete clown show worthy. I’ve been downtown the last 2 weekends for concerts and didn’t see anything criminal or unsafe. Unless you are being blatantly stupid/drunk out of your gourd/have zero awareness of your surroundings, you’re likely fine. But that can be said for most major cities. I think things can improve immensely in the city, but it’s not a scene out of mad max like some of you knuckleheads make it seem.

The gays are less worried about "crime" than the Lafayette baws.

Says a lot of "easy times make soft men" quote always thrown around here.
