How long does Edwards have to either sign it or veto it?

The funny thing is you think it’s fine that all the folks that pay high insurance premiums should pay for the lavish office buildings, your employees and for umpteen tv commercials every hour.

You think 49 other states have a 5000 jury threshold?

48 states are $5,000 and below. 36 states are $0. The national average is <$2,000, and would be about $1,000 if not for Louisiana’s $50k threshold.

Also when you've had it that for a long time that's fine. Our system is set up in a certain way and this will be catastrophic to that court system.

This has been in the works since at least 2012, probably longer. By your logic it can never change.

ETA:

The jury threshold should never be lower than the state minimum required car insurance.

Again, 36 states have no threshold at all. Why is it that you think Louisiana is the ONLY state in the union that can’t handle this? What makes Louisiana so different?

bullshite. The CS has massive impacts. It effectively amounts to fake medical bills. No one really cares much about it because the average citizen doesn't know or understand what it is.

The jury threshold is an absolute killer and will have far reaching, catastrophic unintended consequences for the court system over the next decade. It is asinine
.

And yet all other states somehow manage. Why are we so terrified of juries? Is it because the average juror doesn't have a campaign we can donate to? I bet that this plus two year Rx and we will actually see less trials because there will be less bullshite coming to court on both sides.

I am a defense lawyer. I am also 54 and my horizon for retirement is 10-11 years max. I know the litigation game in this state inside and out. And it is a putrid cesspool. Plaintiff attorneys have made BILLIONS off this corrupt system. Yes, it has put food on my table. But I bill by the hour and draw a salary that pales in comparison to some of these motherfrickers.

Do you injury lawyer bootlickers think it's actually okay that we have more personal injury lawsuits filed per capita (by far) than any other state in the country? Do you think it's okay that businesses refuse to locate here because of our legal climate? It's a fricking fact.

This just ain't about insurance premiums. It's about economic vitality. In the end it's about competition among insurance companies, fair rates, and JOBS. Yes, jobs. If businesses think they won't get fricked by the legal system, they are more likely to locate here.

Cry in your beer, lawyers.

This is a great argument, we can’t change and let the insurance companies rape their customers. Let’s keep our same system snd let the lawyers rape insurance customers.

The funny thing is you think this is a good thing.

If the idea is to reduce the number of lawsuits, wouldn’t this make sense?

Serious question - why do you think it’s such a bad thing?

If it becomes cheaper to market insurance in Louisiana, insurance rates will drop as long as it's an open marketplace. Or does Econ 101 not apply here?
