Maybe you baws shouldn't have had kids if one day of trying to keep them safe from possible tornadoes makes you break down so badly.

Well of course. And how many times has this actually happened? I'll tell you. In the last 50 years, there have been 7 instances of a tornado related death at a school. 3 school related deaths in 1978 in FL 9 school related deaths in 1989 in NY (30 deaths total) 1 school related death in 1993 in Grand Isle (3 deaths total) 8 school related deaths in 2007 in AL (20 deaths total) 7 school related deaths in 2013 in OK, (24 deaths total)
Now do deaths of children in tornadoes outside of school….

Man shut the frick up. Sound like a tool. The weather is going to be pretty bad later and not safe for busses full of children on the road.

Sounds like Tabasco sandpaper handjobs are in order for folks in this thread.

don't know that, but 1,566 people have died in tornadoes in the last 20 years, which would mean 15 of the 1,566 were at school.

You’re correct, but I don’t think the criticism is unwarranted. Schools boards have a reputation of overreacting and cancel classes far too often. The worlds a scary place. But you still have to go out in it. Even when the weather is bad. That’s a lesson that needs to be repeated.

It’s a liability thing at this point.

Plus, they have a shite ton of emergency days to burn through with no hurricane in 2022

It isn’t about actual safety

It’s about liability.

A bus accident, a tree falls, a tornado hits...whatever, and the TV lawyers will be on the scene as though they fell from the sky.

Yes, this refrain is continuously uttered every time this topic comes up. But when I ask what type of liability a government agency like a school board has, no one answers. Id love to know how much a school board can actually be sued for regarding injuries sustained in a weather event. Is it actually a factor or is it just something school boards hide behind to avoid confrontation or doing that which they prefer not to do?

About 130 or so last night it was CRAZY here in LC. One strike was super close and woke up our household.

It woke me up & seemed like it was striking the house or trees near my room bc the windows rattled…. Multiple times. My daughter laughed at me this morning bc I told her I felt that in my soul.

Just got a warning in Goudeau. Someone just told me that a tornado passed over Lebeau and Morrow.

Probably not. It hasn’t even rained in Lebeau yet. Probably was confusing the Ville Platte one.
