Minimum of only 200K opens up a lot of places. I would think large city would mean at least 1,000,000 in the metro area.
For metro areas of 200K or more:
- Charleston
- Madison
- Santa Barbara
Ann Arbor, Naples, and Asheville are in the conversation as well.
For metro areas of 1M+:
- Nashville
- Raleigh-Durham-Chapel Hill
- Tucson
- I'll cheat and put San Diego as a fourth option
Underrated in that same general range: Salt Lake City, Grand Rapids, Pittsburgh,

1. DFW - family lives here, easy access to hunting/fishing/golf
2. Montpellier - lots of outdoors stuff, great food, easy access to coast, 3 hr drive to spain, italy, and switzerland
