Tie b/t Dallas and Newport RI. (I know it's not big but god it's awesome.)

Those are two VERY different places.

I worked in Newport for a couple years. It's a beautiful place, but there's honestly just not that much to do there. I think Newport is the perfect place to retire though.

I've lived in Houston, Boston, L.A. I'm ready for some small town living.

Meet me in steamboat, and then we'll get somewhere else warm.

Oh yeah, my wife might be around some...

I don't think I could live in any city for double the per capita income

That 31k in San Diego so you'd have to live on 62k. I couldn't do that anywhere much less one of the most expensive areas of the country

I'm confused as to why so many posters are glossing over this point in the OP. You'd be making just less than $100k in San Francisco, less than $70k in Boston, and less than $35k in New Orleans.

I don't think I could ever be ready to live in a small town. I never want to have to drive more than 5 or 10 minutes to my nearest Starbucks or Target. And have to be able to Uber to and from happy hour anytime I wish.

Minneapolis
Honolulu
New Orleans

I didn't bother to research the per capita income of any of these places.

It's not that hard to live off $70k/year in Boston as a single person. You might have roommates if you want to live in a nicer neighborhood, but it's certainly not impossible.

Because I attempted to look at the per capita income for certain cities and received wildly different numbers from different sources.

What site are you referencing?

ETA: also, does my wife get the same 2x per capita income, or are we imagining that I'm not married?
