Maybe it is the Jewish heritage, or maybe it is that I am not lazy, but I very rarely find the cost of Waitr worth it. I can just go pick up my own food.

Only time Waitr is worth it is when I have food brought into the office for all my employees.

So the NBR folks used the excuse about the $5 delivery fee was actually the drivers tip?

$2 order from Ichiban? These are some of the dumbest orders ever

How do you not understand this?

A majority of people ordering sushi on waitr tag on some edamame with it.

Not shocked at all, for several reasons, but they have pretty good wings.

They're good too, but I know what the inside of that place looks like. If I wanted friend roaches that's what I'd order.

Not yet.

I don't know if they ever will but they have been trying to implement gift cards for awhile and still nothing.

I'm willing to bet most of those ordering 1 and 2 are not tipping the driver very well.

I did it for a few months after the professor in charge of my program decided to go back to Austria and I lost my internship. It’s ultimately a shite job. IF you’ve got an older car that you don’t care about, and IF you get better than average gas mileage, and IF you’re willing to roll the dice with your insurance - the company does not cover you and your personal car insurance will NOT pay if they find you were driving for Waitr - then maybe you can make some okay cash. There’s a few that make a “living” doing it, but they are working 50+ hours a week and all of them I knew had a SO at home brining in more money. Anyone who tells you otherwise ether isn’t incorporating all costs or they’re only thinking of their best days (not unlike a gambler only thinks about his big wins and not his losses).

Some of the “restaurants” they deliver from should be shut down by the health inspectors. I’ve delivered from a few that I was surprised didn’t have a World Health Organization inoculation tent out front.

They require you to drive several miles to a shite restaurant, to pick up a $5 order (or less! I had a few deliveries that were a small drink), then you have to wait at the restaurant, then drive several miles to drop off the food in the ghetto... and those people don’t tip shite. And if you’re ever going to have someone complain, it’s going to come from that same group.

Sure, like any tipped job you can have good days and bad days, but the company doesn’t do anything to really help the drivers out. They refuse to institute a minimum order, a minimum tip, and their order assignment system is so archaic I wonder how they haven’t been put out of business yet.

They have what they call DASH. These are the people who assign you orders once you clock in (you have to juggle multiple different apps btw) and these people are located in another city, many of them have not only never been a driver but have no knowledge of the city at all. A driver will ask them for help finding a restaurant or street or whatever and they have no clue.

The system DASH uses is something a first year computer science major could write. It doesn’t incorporate any metrics like traffic, or first/second derivative nearest neighbor analysis. And they use a policy of delivering the latest first. It is quite common to be assigned an order that is 7 minutes late but is 12 minutes for your location while there’s a half-dozen orders within 3 minutes of you that are 5 minutes late. I could go deeper into it, but ultimately they make no efforts to operate efficiently - meaning drivers are going back and forth, crossing paths, and making double trips. The company doesn’t care because they can continue to just throw more drivers at the problem (I don’t see their system working well once they enter a market that isn’t flooded with people desperate for work like down here).

He’s talking about people ordering a singled out order of edamame without anything else. You clearly don’t WTF he was talking about.

Paying $2 for edamame with a $5 delivery fee without ordering any additional sushi, hopefully you get it now.

No one does this.

People that order all sorts of sushi or other things add an edamame to their order, hence why it's such a popular item.

Just like fries at BWW.

I had a buddy who did it for a couple of months. He said not only was it a horrible job, but the idiots he had to deliver to were the biggest mouth breathing retards in the city.

He said the two worst types of people were the ones who ordered shite like milkshakes during rush hour and lives across town, meaning it would be melted when they got it and they’d be pissed. The other worst type of customer were the ones who lived in the deep hood and would order shite at 10PM right before they got off for the day and then wouldn’t tip shite.
