Told the boss that we need to have a serious talk, regretting it a bit.

Anyone need a really great engineering-ish, physical scientist-ish, technical report writer-ish employee?

LSS, he texted me that I should have done something and I replied that I'll never meet your expectations if you never tell me them...yada yada yada. I probably should have just calmed down a bit before replying.

Looks like I'll be updating the ole resume this weekend.

Yeah, the whiny "I'll never meet your expectations if you don't tell me" garbage.

Sounds like a fight with your SO.

Sack up and get the job done. Or get runned. Sounds like you chose the latter.

I'm guessing you're one of those engineers fresh out of college that's never had a real job before and expect the world to be handed to you.

if you are thinking you are getting fired over this you must not be a valuable employee or you are leaving out some really good stuff with the yada yadas

That's why I always respond to texts from my boss when I'm drunk. If I'm going down for saying something I'm going down in flames.

Doesn't sound like a good position to put yourself in. Sounds kind of whiney... The best advice is probably posted above, try to spin it into a positive conversation about what you can do to improve. What can you change to better meet his goals.

...all the while trying to find a new landing spot.
