guessing CEObro didn't want/see the need to have the scanning equipment necessary to see it with a microscope.

It's not very inspirational to have 50 year old white guys doing routine maintenance on your sub.

Any chance Hank Johnston will lead a congressional inquiry into this?

The sub already tipped over?

How do you know that the sub's material condition wasn't monitored?

When you're busy telling tall (untrue) tales of being in cooperation with NASA. Maybe show them some NASA paperwork relative to your project etc.

ne would think that the maintenance schedule for something under this much stress would be off the charts intensive and detailed.

He was plenty smart enough to understand all of that and get plenty of outside help. What we can tell now is that he often refused the expertise of others. That was his flaw.

I was talking strictly in terms of financial resources. It’s one thing to seek outside expertise, but their recommendations also come with a price tag. If you’re continually brushing aside more testing, and better materials instead looking for off the shelf solutions, that tells me you don’t have the capital to be undertaking such a project. He had maybe a couple hundred dollars max invested in the control system and ballasts. Throw in a couple flat screens and he might be approaching a grand depending on the brand he chose.

And a Playstation controller to operate the vessel. Everything about this screamed non-compliant.

To what governing body and/or established, official standards were they obligated to operate under and answer to?

But it’s terrible that this asswipe and his jerry rigged subbed has tainted the area of Titanic. Just like all those fools dead up on Everest.

Dude, it's not the fools that have died on Everest as much as all the fools leaving behind ALL their trash, oxygen tanks, camping gear, etc. when they either made it to the top or failed and had to go back down.

Seeing videos of those base camp areas is sickening with literally tons of trash strewn all over the mountainside, and no plans to remove any of it as far as I know.

All of this for the sake of the almighty dollar with these so-called mountaineer/explorers paying tens of thousands of dollars each to even attempt the climb.

I found it interesting that Discovery Channel's Josh Gates was scheduled to dive on one of these trips and backed out. Gates stated something to the fact that he had serious concerns about the entire operation.

I can hear Josh now

Yeah, I saw this a few years back and laughed so hard at the absurdity of this idiot to not have a clue how islands form mid-ocean and thinking they are just floating there and able to tip over like a fricking canoe.

Then to think he held the political office of Senator is just mind-numbing. More of the "Vote for me, I'm black and one of our people" instead of having the intelligence to actually do something positive while in office.

Yeah, I'll take a controller that takes years of abuse by a 10 year old over a prototype that has the same functionality.
