Live close to campus, don't try to go anywhere across town between 6 AM and about 7 PM.

One thing you might want to mention to him is.. To get in with "the in crowd" at a place called Splash (not the swimming pool place. Splash the club/bar). If he gets in with that crowd they will fill him in..

Don't go north of campus on Highland farther than 1 block.

Get a Roast Beef Po-boy from The Pastime. They do not cook it in gravy so there is none on the side. It is awesome without it.

If the street has a number in the name, or if it's named after a president or a state, he needs to turn around and get out of there.

Stay near campus. Don’t go past aster st. Explore BR but try to stay south of FL Boulevard. Always lock your vehicle. Don’t get on the interstate after 430 unless it’s a Sunday. Learn the traffic patterns but be prepared for anything.

This was not a good place to ask advice. You’ll get 95% negative responses. Long story short, don’t worry he will love it

Live within walking distance of class or you will spend your whole life circling parking lots and sitting in traffic.

You have to actually look for things to do. BR actually has a decent amount going on, but it takes some hunting.

Don’t be afraid to drive to New Orleans or Lafayette for a big event.

Don’t try to order delivery after an LSU home game.

DUI’s will ruin your life, there’s a drunk bus, and ubers are cheap.

Bikes are major timesavers, but car drivers will aim to hit you if you’re not watching.

I lived in BR for about 10 years. I loved it when I lived near campus or close to work. All of my college buddies moved and it got boring. I got tired of it quick

Living in Baton Rouge with school aged children is terrible. Living in Baton Rouge as a college student is great.

Tell him to live near campus to avoid traffic, preferably along the bus route. They have built a bunch of new complexes on Burbank that look nice.
