Based on this logic, the pizza joint only recommends a 5% tip.
Or their default receipt prints are messed up, or someone changed the percentages of the auto tip, or the tablet just glitches out.
It's tech. It's not perfect.

Don’t tip people that put your food on the counter is my suggestion
How do you know the person at the counter doesn’t share the tip with the back of the house?

I wouldn’t have tipped the first time if I had to drive over to a restaurant to pick up a box of pizza

I hear what you are saying. At the same time, I do not enjoy the taste of boogers.

You're being a big ole dummy in here. Your overly sensitive arse is making shite up to avoid admitting what is happening here. You're pouting like a gas station cashier who keeps a tip jar on the counter and feels bad about it.

You do realize every time people like you say “ok boomer” in a situation like this, it just solidifies the point that our generation is filled with a bunch of self entitled spoiled brats right?

I’ve never seen that, but I always pay online and tip then. They just hand me my pizza.
Part of me feels bad because I don’t know how much of that the driver is getting and I know they’re putting miles, etc on their car but I guess that’s not my problem.

Should simply stop the tipping process and give them a real wage. Simple as that.
It’s sad that shitty service is now the standard and gets 15% which used to be for good service.

Places need to tell you about the extra 3% - 4% for credit card transactions when you're ordering pickup. Asking for a tip for essentially doing nothing while I had to drive to you restaurant, get out of my car, go inside and wait on you to get my food is bad enough, but adding 4% because I made things easier for you by using a credit card is just ridiculous.

Did you not read the stupid comment I replied to?

Yep.
People don't like to hear reasonable explanations. They just want to be able to bitch about low wage service workers and not feel shitty about it.

I haven’t read thru the whole thread but it’s likely they didn’t notice you tipped beforehand. Most pick up orders, people tip when they arrive not before.

The credit card makes it easier for you, not for them, hence why it's called a convenience fee.
That credit card transaction is another item they have to track monthly, and they have to pay a certain amount for every transaction. It's more work for them.
ETA: But yes, I agree. If there's a charge for using CC, that needs to be announced prior, preferably with signage on the register and/or card reader.

This. I did tip a guy working at dominoes 20 bucks once. He was literally by himself at work cooking all the pizzas and managing the cash register and pick up window. On a football Saturday. He was visibly exhausted yet overly friendly to me and my order was correct and on time, and hot and fresh. He deserved it

The system is designed to spit out suggested tip amounts based on certain variables and settings, including by role (waiter vs bartender vs take out), as a percent of whole bill less or inclusive of tax, percent vs dollar amount, if the customer has already tipped or not, etc. If OP hadn't tipped before, the suggestions almost certainly would have been 10-15% and up. Because a tip was on there, the system defaulted to the smaller additional tip.
If you pre-pay and you are still required to sign a full receipt, this is pretty standard in many POS systems. I've worked with a number of them on the security side. It's a design that is customizable by the restaurant.
It's not a kitchen guy messing with the admin account on the POS, and it's not a glitch.
