Why should you? This is not an unexpected outcome when both the virus test AND the antibody test have shown that most people with the disease have absolutely no symptoms. Orange County, Santa Clara, the aircraft carrier, the Diamond Princess, Vo, Italy, Boston homeless shelter, obstetrics testing in New York, etc., and now Wisconsin. The only debate among most scientists is whether it's closer to 50% or 90+%.

The NYC numbers, *before* they added in the probable cases, already showed that 0.1% of the entire population of the city had died of *confirmed* cases. You would have to assume that every single person in NYC has already been infected, and that not a single one of the probable cases was a true case, and that their death count stops about 5 days ago, in order for this to be even equal to the flu's mortality rate of 0.1%.
In reality, where most of us live, none of those assumptions are even remotely true. So that 0.1% is the absolute, rock-bottom fatality rate that covid can possibly be, and it is certain to be inaccurate. All we know is it absolutely cannot be lower than that.
To say "not even as bad as the flu" is to simply ignore plain indisputable facts.

Ok, I’ll ask you too. What is your plan in regards to unemployment and the economy? It’s easy to sit back and say “let’s stay safe and stay locked in.”
The problem with that is that it’s not feasible, much less possible for much longer. At some point very soon, we’re all gonna have to go back to normal and take our licks. Money is not a never ending resource. We have to produce (all of us, not just essentials).
I suspect that this is nut cutting time (so to speak) for the unhealthy in this country to either be responsible and stay socially distanced while resuming normal activity or pay the consequence and get sick and possibly die. And for those who are obese, have bad genes with poor immunity, the elderly - those all need to especially stay socially distanced. I don’t know any other way to put it. We have been on training wheels for the last month. But we are bottomed the frick out with unemployment and now the government is paying/has paid us all a little. Time to go back to work. Your month long holiday -errrr- working from home has come to an end.

That's not to say, these states aren't loose in what they count as a COVID death, but come on.

The numbers from NYC DO NOT in any way, shape or form correlate to the rest of the country. NYC is a truly unique area.
It is one of the most densely populated areas in the country. People use mass transit multiple times a day. They live/work in skyscrapers, which means they are crammed in elevators like sardines several times each day as well.
The rest of the country doesn't live like that, and that is precisely why if you subtract the numbers from NYC and the surrounding areas (NJ, CT, etc.) it really isn't that big of a deal except in a few other areas with unique circumstances. LA had Mardi Gras, and that was a huge contributor to the problem there.
I am sick of being told how horrible it is where I live when the actual numbers DO NOT support the hysteria. Because of NYC, though, I can't work, friends treat me like I have the plague if I suggest we get together, and just going to the store for bread and milk is a gigantic ordeal.
It's time to end this for the areas that are not in bad shape.
