Plus if you did an average across the centuries, China and its various dynasties are almost certainly the richest country overall in history. There were big, big reasons to invade China if you could muster the force to take them on. Why do you think they built a big fricking wall?
China and India historically have been the richest countries in the world. That richness made the West Asian frontier extremely important for European and West Asian empires, as control of those trade routes meant a massive amount of wealth. You can even characterize Islam's rise as a proto-merchant class (as Muhammad was a merchant) unifying various tribes who had been in the firing line during the many Roman-Byzantine and Sassanian wars between 200-600. The control of those trade routes is tremendously important, important enough that Ottoman control of Istanbul (which was at the crossroads of numerous trade routes, hence it's importance) was enough to drive Europeans to seek different routes by sea. Ottoman power, which was considerable, was eventually weakened enough to limit its holdings. But the reason for the wealth of West Asian empires, and why West Asian countries like Iran and Turkey are so important geopolitically has to do with their east-west orientation. If China succeeds with its new Silk Road project, I think you will find that those countries again dominate West Asian politics as they have done since Siege of Baghdad in earnest. This might be especially important if China and India again become the largest two countries in the world in terms of their economies, as they are predicted to do by 2050.

So Egypt only had 14 battles....
I appreciate the effort but I'm not buying the accuracy either.

You have to think...battles in those days are Hand to hand, organized slaughters. You get the army together, do battle, then it’s over. Wars might take decades with relatively few battles. But the ones that did occur were slaughters. Plus the didn’t do large expeditionary campaigns looking for foreign monsters to slay

We're in 3rd place but everyone chilled the frick out when we dropped that bomb for the 2nd time.

I don't either. For example, it lists that the Islamic Calpihate won 108 battles, but Khalid ibn Walid commanded his forces to 200+ victories, never losing one battle (supposedly). Tariq ibn Ziyad was similarly undefeated, though I don't remember how many battles he won.

You also had many many periods of French conquest. Charles Martel, Pepin the Short, Charlemagne, the myriad Louis...
You had the 100 years war, the Napoleonic conquests, colonial wars, the world wars...
France has been around a LONG time.
The French state has been around in one form or another for nearly a millennium and a half.
Henry IV, Clovis, Godfrey of Bouillon, Baldwin II, Philippe Augustus, Charles d'Anjou, d'Iberville, de Grasse (Americans should thank him), Lafayette, Foch, and on and on and on.
I've said it on here before, and I'll say it again, but France in the 1990's and 2000's in America gets a very odd view all things considered. They got blown over in 1940 because of shitty leadership and a mis-aligned strategic position (and still lost nearly as many people as the U.S. in the entire war), but they are the most belligerent, aggressive, and arguably toughest people in world history all things considered.
It is one of the more underrated reasons why WWI turned out the way it did: a good chunk of official Europe was still terrified of a fully-mobilized and fully-armed France in the early 20th century. I mean, shite, even after WWII, they fought a savage and brutal war on a scale that we never touched in Korea or (our own) Vietnam in Algeria.

Actually the battles themselves had fairly low death counts. It’s the route and chase where most died

We did. USS Comte De Grasse (DD-974) was named for him.

Alexander the Great put Macedon in the top 10 until 1700 years after his death.

I consider that part of the larger battle.
What i’m Getting at is that large battles weren’t as frequent or drawn out, excluding sieges

Where's the Ottomans? Russia under the Czars? Rome?

It's the roll over they did after those 6 weeks in WWII. It went poorly, so did the initial days of WWI but WWI broke their spirit with it being fought for so long and hard on their own soil. The popular story is to think Germany is still invincible after France. But the material and manpower loss France and the BEF inflicted is really too significant to be swept under the rug. It was the first too big a bite the Reich made.
France's big sins though are the being completely subservient to Germany, the myth they successfully propagated of La Resistance while Northern Europe was the only real fighting back from the underground, and trying to go back to colonial ways after the war and then handing off their problems to USA.
They were our brothers, but at a certain point, frick em.

They clearly must be the reason for the saying, "winning the battle, but not the war"

The dots on the map should be color coded to the victor.
